Too many McLarens

Why is it so, that whenever I want to race a grid full of Formula V10 Gen. 1 category cars (22 cars in total), the grid automatically includes about 6 McLaren MP4-12s, instead of just 2 (which also means, that instead of having 11 teams on the grid, I can only have about 8)?
Can I somehow prevent this from happening? It kind of ruins the immersion.

Same! I drive the MP4-12 in a season and I'm seeing at least 3 other McLarens. 24-car grid.

 

I did my research elsewhere as well. Turns out it's quite a common bug, and it has been happening for quite a while now (a patch from earlier this/last year messed something up - afaik, it wasn't an issue in the beginning).
They should forget about customizable helmets and fix that thing first.

 

I don't think this is a bug, If you count a car-model per team then you have two teams, F-V10Gen1 containing 20 cars and the MP4 team containing 4 cars, this add up to 24 cars in this class

That is correct, there are 4 MP4's so if you driver one you will see 3 others using a "Maximum" of 24 field

You can make a 22 car field with only 2 McLaren's if you use a CustomAI file, from which you exclude the unwanted cars. In this case the two McLaren-Test-cars and the car you are using, In this case the Scuderia Faenza Girardi #0
You can use this file with default livery and 21 AI drivers, You have to choose the first F-V10-Gen1 the Scuderia Faenza Girardi #0
