Hi, I've had my G27 for many years, and have been ok with it, but about once every year or two I have to replace the potentiometers in the pedals because they wear out and my throttle will sometimes go crazy. I'm thinking, rather than do another fix, should I just buy a new wheel and pedal set? I'm not looking for a super wheel and set. I only need something average but with good reliability. Looking for recommendations under $500. I enjoy manual shifting but can live without it if there is an option to add it later. I saw Logitech has a G920 for $300. Is this a decent wheel/pedal? They offer a shifter for another $60. Any recommendations are greatly appreciated!!
I have the G923 with true force and really like it, for a budget wheel it's great, and the peddles are much improved over the G27's with more force on the break peddle. I to came from the G27 and have had this one for 2 years now & only needed to clean the pots last month after they sat for 3 months while I had a torn Achilles and couldn't race lol
My G27 always worked great except that I had to replace the potentiometers occasionally. I ended up purchasing a G29 from Amazon.. for a few reasons mostly I'm cheap and this was well under $300, so it will get me by for now. I was definitely smitten with the new technologies available but I felt that if I went down that path I would end up spending several thousand and I'm just not good enough to justify it . Thanks again for all the feedback.
lol I returned the G29 as it really doesn't work well with anything I have. ..so now I search again .. I will look more seriously at your suggestions.
So I ordered the Fanatec CSL DD bundle. The default bundle was $399, but the wheel was on back order. I ordered the bundle with the BMW wheel (about $419) because it was in stock. I also added a desktop mount kit for $30, plus shipping and tax, all came in at about $487 so I think I'm good.
Nice choice mate, congrats with the purchase! I think it is a good choice too as you now have a setup you can make even more powerful if you want to: don't think the Moza has that option. Always good to have that choice, right?! Enjoy mate!
Well done dude, so glad you decided to go for the DD in the end. It's just a much much much nicer piece of hardware for not an insane amount more money.
