TL;DR; Does the sim only report the FFB level to the wheel when it changes and if so, is there a setting via an .ini or the ffb_custom_settings.txt I can change to make it constantly report it? I have an odd problem that has taken me a while to get to the bottom of. Periodically, my wheel (Simagic Alpha Mini) would go limp for a very short period of time (less than a second). It was very infrequent (maybe once a month) and very short, so I never really got to the bottom of it. That was until the latest update in which I started experiencing it a lot in the LMDh. After faffing around for a while I finally got to the bottom of it using the wheelcheck.exe. Basically my wheel will sustain any FFB setting received for up to 1 second before stopping the FFB, so if the app/game stops sending FFB updates, the FFB will turn off 1 second after the last update. Now, I'm a glass half full kinda guy, so they way I view it is that what I was experiencing in-game was the wheel telling me in no uncertain terms that I was clipping like crazy and my FFB settings were a bit of a shambles. I also view it as nice safety feature in the wheelbase since if the game crashed during high FFB, it should stop after a second. I have asked Simagic if I can increase the time and support have passed it back to the dev team, but I have not had a response yet.
I’ve also felt some slight jolts in my CSL DD for a few hundred milliseconds. These happen every once in a while too
hmmm... might be something similar. Do you want details of what I did to figure out what was going on with my wheelbase? I could replicate the issue very easily on every corner using the LMDh at Gateway Oval with the FFB levels for the car and game set to 100% on the 'Default' profile, but the wheelcheck.exe test gave me the final clues to what was going on.
