Hey guys, I'm wondering what the best setting for "render frames ahead" is. I can't tell any difference and I'm not sure what the purpose and result of this setting is. I ask myself this, especially with VR.
1 is what I've always had this setting on for all VR sims, I was led to believe anything higher induces lag but I may have to revisit this thought process.
I would say most people leave that setting at 1. Of course feel free to experiment it won't break anything.
I think higher may be better for some set ups. I was having the occasional much mentioned microstutters with render frames ahead of 1 but increasing this to 3 fixed the microstutters completely. I don't feel any lag. This is with a 12 core amd/ 3090/ G2.
I changed it to 4 and it is way smoother, the microstutters are all but gone and the bouncing in pitstops is greatly reduced
