Desktop resolution limited very low with Quest3

Hi, when playing with Quest3 in Oculus VR mode, in the game settings the screen resolution only goes 640x480, 720x480 and 1920x514, unable to get my full 2k screen. (Tried Full screen or boradless or windowed, same)
While I know this might help FPS a bit, it does have quite some annoying issue:
1. I can't make any meaningful screenshot with OBS
2.Mouse fly by the screen very quickly even in VR, and if I click outside of the window with another window on the back, I'll have to remove my headset and bring back the window
3.Some menu, like the main menu, and first layer (set racing, or option etc) are very burly even in VR, however some others like car or track selection are crystal clean in VR.

I tried even edit the "graphicsconfigoculusdx11.xml" to any other resolution , but it'll get me back to at most 1920x514 in the menu, and worse this uw window will be squished into 16:9 in my headset.
Any particular setting I'm missing?

And also I still can't edit HUD in VR, while even when I edited it in desktop mode and saved, after restarted into VR, the HUD is still in default mode.

 

I have absolutely no clue but lately I have seen some people having similiar issues because there suddenly are some write restrictions in some of their AMS2 Window folders.

 

Seems if you use OneDrive you need to change some folder permissions, from what I remember from previous messages.

 

I don't use OneDrive and I have UAC completely off by regedit, shouldn't have any windows permission problem then.
And I can change resolution in game, but locked to a few low res to choose from.

 

In 1.6.3.4 it became vertical without I change anything


in VR menu is this vertical stretch to 16:9, went from unconvenient to stright unusable!
as soon as I press graph setting it crash to desktop so I don't even know what the resolution is!

graphicsconfigoculusdx11.xml still can't change things, even when I tried to delete and let it rebuild, it still is vertical, but in full screen.
However things works in non-VR mode, but I don't really play it in flat screen anymore!

And I tried delete full Documents\Automobilista 2, verify integrity in steam and start fresh, still got this, change resolution in graphicsconfigoculusdx11.xml do nothing, however the <prop name="Windowed" windowed="2" /> do works, so I know it's the correct file.

 

OK, I'm pretty sure what's going on here, the 600x1024 sound familiar to me, that's because one of my monitor is running at that resolution!

By disable that monitor, the game runs at 2k as monitor 1, not the other resolution as monitor 2 or 5 somehow (edith it does, randomly, no cure why).
So I believe reiza have some check to match the "desktop resolution", however it doesn't work well with multi-monitor setting, I know my monitors are weird (for flight sim), but I have moitor 1 set as main monitor and non-VR mode runs happily on it, so why not in VR mode?
Please fix it. for now I can work around it by disable that monitor every time I need to run AMS2 in VR, but really not convenient at all!

 

I don't think anybody who read your initial post would have guessed that you were running 5(!) monitors, several of which were running resolutions different from your main monitor.
I'm glad to see that you found the culprit and a workaround for it, without our help.

 

I have the same problem on Quest 3. I deaktivated my second and third monitor but still have blurry menu and cant find a solution for the HUD problem. Could you get it fixed?
