Today I raced against the AI at Road America in GT3 class and lost a lot of time/positions during the one mandatory pitstop (fuel and tyres), all cars, including mine, pitted only once in a 22 lap race. I saved the replay and timed the pitstops of two of the AI cars and my own pitstop. From the pitlane speed limit line till the cars exited the pitlane the AI took 55 seconds, I took 68 seconds losing 13 seconds. I should also say that I use auto pitstop. Has anyone else found that the AI cars pit much faster than you do?
Haven't noticed that, and I often have pitstops in AI races. The thing is though, AI is efficient with their stops, so they only do the things that are required. If the mandatory tyre change doesn't require all four tyres, then they will only change 2. They will also plan their fuel. If it is not efficient to refuel, they tend to take more fuel on start. If they refuel, they will only thake as much fuel as is required to finish their stops. So, if you're playing with mandatory pit stops, you need to plan them ( how much fuel you want to take, which tyres to change). If you do not plan them properly, then you will loose lot of time.
Shouldn't be, but I would ask did you time everybody? You'll see differences in time between AI on the pitstops, some drivers will choose to change 2 tyres, some drivers will choose neither depending on the situation. Fuel is another thing that can vary, some drivers will naturally save fuel if they're stuck behind other cars, staying on the slipstream will make them use less fuel. I'd say the most logical thing that could've happened here is that the AI decided to only change 2 tyres and fueled a bit less, making them faster on the pitstops.
