Hello everyone, I was wondering if the Tobii Eye Tracker 5 and AMS2 make a good combo. According to the Tobii website, AMS2 is now officially supported. Has anyone here had the chance to try it? How does it work? Is it good and easy to set up? Does it improve the experience? Thanks in advance!
I just set up a Web Cam with Beam Eye Tracker ( $25 US) and Open Track. In helmet view it seems to be working well, especially for open wheelers. Try the demo on Steam.
I just received the tobii eye tracker 5 yesterday. And it is best head and eye tracker I ever tried. I installed it above my G9 32:9 monitor. Using Opentracker with tobii eye input. I reduced X, Y, Z and roll values And it works fine excepts 10cm of bottom row. I think it can be better with precised tuning. It seems better than VR for me. +it works very well in low light environment and supports windows hello
Thanks for your feedback! Have you used TrackIR in the past (Specifically the Pro Clip) and how would you compare it if so? I wouldn't mind being able to ditch the clip once and for all.
Yes i tried TrackIR clip before. It needs sort of mounting gear (headset of cap) and clip moves sometimes. It also need power. But tobii is no need to wear anything on my head. I think it can be worth if you want to see change of sight by head movements. Then you need to reduce mapping slope of some factors like X,Y,Z, Roll and pitch.
Yeah I have TrackIR and a DIY wireless 'pro clip' that I 3d-printed and built myself. The original that I bought was very flimsy although I suspect they've improved the design since then. I'm more thinking performance-wise, how do they compare? Any latency? How reliable is it, etc.
I've been using Track IR in conjunction with a 32:9 Ultrawide for years and wouldn't want to give it up. Another advantage of head tracking is that you no longer notice the distortion of the image, as the image is always in the center of the monitor wherever you look. A good profile is important for TrackIR. The standard profiles are all garbage. I have also deactivated the lateral shift in tracking so that the head always remains central to the steering wheel.
Been using TrackIR 5 for ages, got myself Tobii when it was on sale and just couldn't configure it neither for eyes nor head tracking in the top mounted position on G9. The initial setup is so finnicky and broken, it's crazy. Followed few enthusiast guides I could find as OEM documentation is pretty shallow, even purchased FaceTrackNoIR license, tried Tobii Experience Beta, no cigar, it just refused to properly track on initial calibration. Fact that you also need to install a bunch of 3rd party software from different places and no predefined profiles was quite a detractor as well. With TrackIR it's pretty much plug and play, one app, intuitive no nonsense setup, out of the box support for all the titles without any messing around. TrackClipPro did not bother me either as I am using headphones anyway and it's just permanently mounted to them. The only thing I liked is how solid and well built Tobbi HW looked comparing to flimsy ClipPro, but setup was definitely not user friendly and perhaps too much for my skills. So Tobbii went back. One more thing, it took me quite some time to uninstall all Tobii SW leftovers, it left behind a bunch of non uninstallable drivers I had to follow this guide to fully clean it up. It just shows how haphazardly and sloppy the whole package is put together. @YOUNG IL YOON , do you have any documented step by step guide that you followed to make it work in pictured configuration to share? Thanks
Yes i want to compare with trackIR but mine has broken. But tobii eys's usability is better for me. I think i can make a simple guide in few days.
