VR has stopped working on my pc since the last update, previously worked flawlessly with no tweaks needed, just loaded Oculus, then into Steam and run AMS2 in Oculus VR mode, I run it now and get a white screen that shows loading, in Steam VR and the game loads up into flat screen. I have reinstalled Steam and AMS2 to no avail. Anyone know what might have gone wrong and how to fix it? Grateful for any assistance. I have googled and You Tubed and found nothing that has helped!
    Regards
    Paul

Can't speak to running it in Oculus mode, but if you'd like to do a test then download the Oculus bypass Detector, put it in the root folder of AMS2, then start in SteamVR mode. You can always delete the file to go back to running in Oculus mode. Good luck!

I copied the new openvr.dll file to the x64 folder and renamed the exsting one. Then I downloaded open composite. I switched to open composite and when launching game in Steam VR mode got a crash report as below. Any ideas what I am doing wrong, it's so frustrating as it has always worked perfectly until I have tried to run the game after the update? upload_2025-3-22_10-37-21.png

If using OpenComposite you need to use the Oculus Bypass Detector. Did you do both files? The openvr_api.dll and the LibOVRRT64_1.dll must both be installed.

Don't use the OpenComposite launcher. Install the OpenComposite 64-bit
openvr_api.dll into the X64 directory (replacing current one) and install the LibOVRRT64_1.dll into the games root folder. If you're using the Oculus Link software be sure to set the default OpenXR runtime to SteamVR.

Once you have that working, you can install OpenXR Toolkit if you choose to. It's completely optional.

    Hi
Thanks for taking the time to reply. I have both files installed into the correct directories and it still will not launch into VR mode. I can’t understand what has happened to stop it working. I never had any files installed previously and it just worked. Looks like I’m going to have to stick to AC and Iracing, until my subscription runs out, they are both still working fine. I’ve also found that Steam Link has stopped working too. Thanks again for your help.

I did a quick check after reading the first post, and AMS2 is working as normal for me in Oculus mode, so it may not be the update causing your problems

I always use the oculus VR mode. Works fine for me. No need for steamVR mode.

Launching in steamvr is only if you want to experiment with openxr toolkit that has lot of value tbh

especially with the recent mod I mentioned few posts above

I have tried Oculus mode, just launches flat screen, thanks for your response, I’m sure I’ll find a solution eventually.

That's because without the Lib file in the root folder you are not using it and AMS2 is opening in Oculus mode, which it does by default. The only way to not have AMS2 open in Oculus mode is to use the Lib file in the root folder. The Lib file bypasses Oculus mode and is used in conjunction with the OpenComposite DLL, which is the only way you can use OpenXR Toolkit.

You also need to put the OpenComposite DLL in the X64 folder (replacing original openvr_api.dll) and set OpenXR runtime in the Oculus Link software to SteamVR. After that you should be able to run OpenXR Toolkit.

The Oculus Bypass Detector DLL works in conjunction with the OpenComposite DLL.
