Hi, I have had this issue a few times now.
Halfway through a race, there is suddenly a 1 second lag, then my sound output changes from my headset to another of my speakers. I don't think it is the headset at fault because I can still hear crew chief and discord chat etc perfectly fine.
The fix is to click options and audio and change the output device back to headset.
Obviously this isn't practical in an online race and are have no sound.
If this cannot be fixed, could it be possible to assign a button to a speaker choice so that it can be set back via streamdeck or a mapped button etc?

First things first, does this happen in other games as well? It could be a loose cable, connection issue, or some kind of interference.

If one of your audio devices is USB, it could be related to power-saving turning it off(?)

I checked my usb power saving and it is already set to disabled so this shouldn't be the issue here. I have also gone through my USB devices in device manager and have turned them all to not allow windows to turn them off.
No I can't replicate this in other games.
I have a wireless headset - which I can turn on and off and that doesn't change the output device in game.
