Can anyone help me with a laptop question , My daughter needs a laptop , A mixture of schoolwork and she plays Sims 4. I want to spend around 5-£600 but I’m not sure which would best suit her needs.
I have been looking at the Samsung Galaxy Book 4 edge but unsure about the arm processor. Any help appreciated. You can always pm me

primarily depends on your ability and confidence.
Just keep in mind that most other drivers will expect you using a wheel and may leave quite low margins of room what can be tough to handle on a controller.
But in terms of pure speed, we have a fella on racecraft online that is using a controller.
His peak pace is pretty much up there with most of us, he struggles with consistency and safety though, sometimes loosing his car due to not so accurate inputs, given the usage of the controller

 

Apart of AMS2 when I am on the rig I am playing Snowrunner when I am away from home, with the steam deck. Pretty interesting game for us petrolheads, in a much more chill plan than simracing. I reccomend it.

About playing racing sims with a controller: there are some people outhere that are very, VERY competitive with a gamepad. Not kidding, people having world-record like pace.
Many people, in the other hand just can't. I am at least 5 tenths slower in the G40 Cup with a pad per minute than in the G29. That is a lot in that car, and it is very easy to drive. In a more difficult car the difference just grows exponentially. I find racing with a pad fun vs the AI because you can use a suitable difficulty. I would hate to race online with such a handicap. But perhaps 1) you are one of those gamepad guys or 2) you don't mind to lose pace.

The biggest issue with having slower pace in a pad is that LFM allows you to use one account per steam user. If you use a rig also, it is like having two persons using the same account, it destroys the point of ELO. I never tried an online race in a pad because I knew my rating would not be representative of my speed, but I would definitely If I had the opportunity to use a smurf (not a smurf actually, just me in a gamepad). If you only play in a gamepad, then there is no reason to not try it. If you are slow, well, not an issue, you will have low ELO and you will fight in the back, not an issue.

 

I was curious if there will ever be an option implemented to be able to disable reset to track. It's really immersion breaking when racing online and someone goes off track only to teleport right in the middle of the road. It's also caused a lot of unnecessary accidents which can cost you the race. I'm hoping something can be done about it.

 

I wonder if Reiza is holding back to let Project Motor Racing take the limelight for the month?

 

Yeah, could be. We're still waiting for the promised details about that (in)famous partnership they announced few years ago. Maybe they shared some technology or assets? Anyway, Straight4 has been very vocal about its revolutionary physic engine, so it better be good. We all know how Ian Bell tends to overpromise, but I'm still very curious to hear more about the game.

 

i think Ian Bell is very good with contacts in the racing scene still and they probably will share assets amongst each other like circuits for example Mosport. PC3 also had Jerez and Interlagos when these seem to come from Reiza. I would not hold my breathe for any of the PMR cars to appear in AMS2 tho, they need to be a standout feature for that game.

btw, i was watching older F1 and im thinking we need a 2007/8 f1 car, these small ones with lots of wings.

 

Yeah. I remember Ian Bell saying Project Cars 3 would be way better than Project Cars 2. And we all know what crap that turned out to be.
But there is still hope, that together with Reiza, he will do something good.

Personally for me, it is very important, so that there is many brands of cars GT4, GT3, GT2/GTE in Project motor racing and Automobilista 2.
I don't use MODS for Automobilista 2, and i really want, so that Reiza added in the future MORE cars GT4, GT3, GT2/GTE that exist in Project Cars 2, especially these: Cadillac ATS-V.R GT3 (2016), Renault Sport R.S. 01 GT3 (2015), Ford GT LM GTE (2016). Honestly guys, I also want to see the other cars in these classes, for example: Dodge Viper GT3-R, Lexus RC F GT3. After all, there are still so many missed cars: Group GT3 - Wikipedia , LM GTE - Wikipedia , SRO GT4 - Wikipedia
And of course it is very important many tracks. In the first Shift I really liked Autopolis (Japan).

And finally I want to say that in any case, at the moment in Automobilista 2 there are a lot of tracks. And with the update 1.6 the number of GT4 and GT3 cars has increased. Thank you very much for this Reiza.

 

Ian Bell has kept a large part of his team for decades. Straight4 is essentially made up of developers from Slightly Mad Studios and SimBin, which says a lot. I hope this partnership will be beneficial for both Straight4 and Reiza, maybe the next Automobilista will run on this new Hadron physic engine?

 

Would the Farming Simulator devs be cool with that?

 

From what I understand, Hadron is the new physics engine and was developed prior to the switch to Farming Simulator's new graphics engine. I believe GIANTS Software will only provide the graphics engine (and, of course, will publish PMR). However, I’m not sure if GIANTS actually acquired the Hadron Engine.
