This rfuktor2 file is still the one I like best on page 493

Can you put a few words on what's better in it than the last one?

After many hours driving this file last night and today I must say it feels the smoothest, most refined, well-rounded file to date. I have played around with multiple LFB and FX settings and this file seems to be very adjustable with just a few in game tweaks for almost anyone's desired effect. All the while maintaining the tire feedback to push right up to the ragged edge and hold it their if you are trying to eek every ounce out of your car. I personally prefer to feel what the tire is doing more than have all the immersion from road bumps and feedback to better inform me were the limit of my grip is at. The beauty of this file is it simply gives you so much freedom to choose how you want your FFB to feel. Thank you Karsten for such flexible file with such informative feedback. I don't know how you find the bugs in these files but, I am so grateful that you do. They just continue to reach new levels of FFB that I never imagined possible :)

I feel like I have more control of the car. More confidence. It feels like I understand the grip of the tires better.

The newest file isn't bad. It just felt watered down. I could feel the tires but it felt like something was missing. I didn't have as much confidence driving. Maybe I'm using the wrong settings?

@Terry Ayers I saw you mentioned you are using Simagic. I am too. What are your Simpro and in-game settings with the latest rfuktor2 file?

    ijac,

My in game settings are: Gain 38, LFB 10, FX 15, Damper 0, Spring 0
    Simpro settings in screenshot below:

If you are looking for more road feedback like bumps, curbs etc. try increasing FX to 35 to 40. I played around with these earlier and was surprised how much this detail came up by just increasing FX. I don't run any mechanical filters and very low filter level at 2 with zero feedback detail. I have found that Karsten's file gives all the detail that I need to catch slides and any over the edge situations that I put myself into lol :) I was not a fan of AMS2 with my simagic until trying these files because of how sensitive to noise these wheelbases can be. I stumbled on these files from Karsten and fallen in love with AMS2.

I'm quite frugal for a typical portuguese :D:D, I don't think I'll buy a new wheelbase soon (if ever again).
I've spend this afternoon on RaceRoom's Portimão (after, perhaps, more than a full year away!!) and the FFB and physics are really good. If only it had Madness Engine on the graphics... Now I have 131.5h on RR and 1.875h on AMS2 :D. RaceRoom is really an hidden diamond.
I also spend some time on ACC yesterday and, with some tweaks, it's also good - I didn't recall it been so good before.

If you have the same Pit House version, just do the same I did (I'm on beta so I don't know what current released version has available)

Thanks for sharing your settings Terry!

I just ran that latest rfuktor2 file and the one on pg 493 post 9857 back to back with these cars and tracks ...
Formula USA 2023 at Road America
    F-Classic Gen 2 McLaren MP4/4 at Imola 1988
GT3 Gen 2 Audi at Nords (Traction Control = 0)
    F-V10 Gen 2 at Kansai
    GT1 McLaren at Spa
    Formula Trainer at Cadwell Park

I still like the file on pg 493 better. I feel oversteer and understeer more clearly. There is more communicated as to what the tires are doing. I can also feel the tires loading better. Everything that is communicated is more clear and detailed. By detail I don't mean FX/road bumps. I mean the subtlest loss of grip can be felt.

The latest file feels vague, dull, flat. I can feel understeer and oversteer but not as clearly.

Anyway, to each there own! haha. Thanks you for creating these rfuktor2 files Karsten!

Here are my settings using the rfuktor2 file on pg493 post 9857
    In Game: 22/0/32/0/0
I added a little Mechanical Friction to eliminate oscillations on the straights

Karsten, did the changes and certainly helped with the aggressiveness. Went with 2.0 on the peaksa, and 0.10 on the boost width. I will keep testing, but feeling a lot more to my liking so far with these changes.

rFuktor2 - Eddie de Beer & Friends Tribute

This is too good to not be shared, I'm afraid...

    * Improved feel of grip. @ijac I think this is more to your liking than the other new ones.
    * Suspension slightly lower, but good.
    * FX adjusted for more bumpy on higher FX settings.

I'm so tempted to try the new files, but don't have the stones to mess with the feeling I've built around Rf2 lol
How mentally damaging the GT4 class is btw. Joined two back to back races on that class and I walked out for a cigarette and I'm not even a smoker

    @ijac @Terry Ayers
Can I ask why you both set relatively low "wheel rotation speed" in sim pro? I have been trying to use as neutral settings as possible and assumed that 100 (ie unlimited) speed would be best. I am also on Alpha Evo Sport

    Many thanks!

Such low values for the "rotation speed" don't make sense to me on a Simagic. It makes it sluggish and slow, and everything is damped too much. That might be suitable for a truck.

hb22, It's really comes down to personal preference but, what I have found for my skill level a bit slower wheel rotation speed provides a more stable wheel to allow me to catch over and under steer. I have tried multiple settings and have settled on 45-50 being ideal for my driving style and skill set. I would think that if your skill set is quick enough to keep up with the higher wheel rotation speed that it could be very beneficial to run a higher wheel rotation speed. I know drifters prefer a higher wheel rotation speed. If you can effectively drive comfortable at higher wheel rotation speeds I would continue to do so :)

I agree, I feel the way it aligns / responds during oversteer is what I like / prefer. Sometimes with files which have more sense of understeer (which I thought I liked) it's as if the feedback of the wheel going light makes cars feel like they're really washing out while there's still grip there.

I agree with everything Terry said. It comes down to personal preference.

Simagic recommends setting it to 20-30 for most race cars. 90-100 for drifting. 30 feels good to me with rfuktor2. And it doesn't feel sluggish or slow or like I'm driving a truck ;)

Right, when it comes to the sense of grip in the front, you might like the last one, posted on this page, too then ;)

And if you want this latest file to have more punch on oversteer & feel the rear more, make these changes:

    For more oversteer punch:

    (oversteer_boost_after_peaksa 4.5)
    (OVERSTEER_BOOST_START -0.05)
    (OVERSTEER_BOOST_WIDTH 0.15)

For more rear feeling (you can go higher, but it comes at the cost of the front feeling, so it's a balance):
    (yaw_scale 1.25)

@Karsten Hvidberg you're a wizard. This file is really great. I love it.

BUT there's one thing that's feels really bad. I was running the GT3 Gen2 Audi at Nords with Traction Control at 0. In every corner there is a stuttering/chattering feeling as soon as I turn the wheel. It feels exactly the same as when the front tires lock but not as strong. I can't get rid of it. I can feel it with FX at 0 and it gets stronger, more pronounced the higher FX is raised. It's extremely distracting. If there's a way to remove this stuttering feeling in corners, this file would be perfect for me.

    Wow, you guys are sensitive!
I've driven that combo and not felt it, will have to try tomorrow.

Btw, see the suggested changes to some values in my prior post in response to @Koos , I would be happy to hear your opinion on those edits too, if you're up for it :) They def. help some cars!

Hahaha. Are we making you crazy yet? o_O Haha

It's not even a subtle feeling. I never felt it in any of the other files. I've tried them all.

I have habit of running my steering ratio very high in car setup. Normally 23 to 26 depending on the car/class. It can be very beneficial if you can mentally commit to long sessions, but it will punish you so bad that you'll forget about your credit card debt and that happens as soon as you feel like God or comfortable.
