In case it's useful, I just deleted my whole AMS2 directory (I reinstalled Windows recently but I kept my save game folders), and I played a whole race without VD hanging. Mostly left the settings at default, so I'm going to start upping them one by one and see if anything causes the Virtual Desktop hangs again.

 

I recently, I believe since the last updates to the Beta and the Release update this week, lost the ability to run Open Xr on the release candidate. It works fine on the Beta but refuses to load past the opening screen on the Release candidate. I have tried all the different versions of Open Vr api that I have and the version I run on AC. RF2 etc a work fine on the Beta just not the release. This has never been the case before now. I am confused. Only the standard Steam VR API is working on the Release at the moment. I have verified the files and all is good.

 

If you verified the files you may have removed the Oculus Bypass Detector and need to reinstall it.

 

I tried the PSVR2 eye-tracking mod with OpenXR Toolkit. Eye tracking worked in the test app but AMS2 did not launch in OpenXR mode. Apparently it works in iRacing. I'll try that next. Maybe needs native OpenXR app rather than through Open Composite?

 

Thanks Dryheat94 I had forgotten about the bypass file but I checked and it is still in both the beta and release folders so not sure what is problem. I will recopy to release in case of corruption/

 

I played a bunch yesterday and yeah it seems my Virtual Desktop issues have been fixed by deleting the settings directory in full.

 

I would test to be sure release is still working as expected, but I only have the beta installed.
