I have tried different out put sound bar headphones ECT.
I have uninstalled 4 times on steam.
    Deleted all files each time.
I have used AMS2 for a year always worked.
All the obvious simple things have been tried.
I have realized AMS2 is my go to game..
    Frustrated.

In settings -> audio, there's a field to select audio output device, this may be using an output that's no longer available or not connected.
This is different from the Windows' output selector but both should match.

Have you already tried what stealthradek suggested?
Try to change your audio device in options/audio.
How about other games or programmes?
Another idea (I had that issue with Red Dead Redemption 2):
When you run AMS 2, press ALT + TAB and open audio mixer in Windows (right mouse click on the speaker symbol at the bottom right) and see if the slider for AMS 2 is set to a reasonable value. I've always have system sounds and the sound of the games I play at 100.
    Good luck!

I had that issue occur a couple of times. IIRC, the only solution I found was to create a new user "settings" profile in AMS2.
