Hello folks. I have a high spec PC - all components up to 2023 standards. I'm running in full screen borderless. And only getting 10fps max in flat screen mode (3840 x 1600). I should also mention that I'm running a high end VR gear. Through Steam VR I'm getting 80+ fps. I have no issues with any other games, including other Sim racing titles. Tried uninstalling/installing but no luck. Any ideas? Thanks in advance. Salter.
Whilst I don't have any ideas I also have a 4090 and race on a 3840 X 1600 and run telemetry on my second 1440 screen. I lock fps at 143 and in race the gpu usually sits between 40 - 50% usage. There are times when it will go significantly higher but that is usually only temporary. Hope you get it sorted.
Thank you. Yeah, something is clearly and fundamentally wrong. It's not an issue of optimization at all. It feels like I'm missing something obvious, but I am not sure what it is!
is it just happening on AMS 2? you could try deleting the user settings folder so it gets regenerated as default when you next run AMS 2 just in case there is something in there messing it up. are your graphics drivers up to date?
It certainly can happen, you can even turn off the igpu in the bios so it forces your 4090 to work. Do you have an AMD cpu? If so I had the igpu to run certain programs on my second monitor so the 4090 would be used just for the gaming. I had regular issues with the AMD driver crashing the igpu and locking up the system. This seems to be a common issue when combining the AMD igpu and a pcie gpu and if you are unlucky enough to suffer from it there does not seem to be a fix. If you have an Intel igpu then you are probably golden to have it run other apps and just the 4090 for running AMS2.
Two things: 1. Your GPU might actually be so powerful it stays in power saving mode when playing AMS2. In your Nvidia control panel there should be an option under 3D settings management. When selecting AMS2.exe (or AMS2AVX.exe) you should ensure that the GPU is forced to run in maximum performance mode instead of power savings or normal mode. 2. If you need help with any technical issues you should put your full system specs in your forum signature. Makes things easier for those trying to help you.
Thanks everyone. I think I zeroed in on the issue. It's something to do with my VR headset's utility setup. It has two compatibility modes, OpenXR and OpenVR. When the latter is turned on (and it must, when using Steam VR), FPS tanks for flatscreen presentation. In VR I easily get 80+ fps. I'm now looking for some support from the manufacturer to figure this out. As an aside: AMS2 is simply stunning through the Varjo Aero. I'm running it at its highest PPD (39) and keeping AMS2 settings pretty high. It's by far the best SIM racing experience I've ever had in VR. Driving one of the LMDh cars on the Nordschleife, in the fall, at around 7am is simply breathtaking.
hi - just setting up my new PC mainly for AMS2 it sounds like i am running the same sat up as you Varjo aero /4090 any tips to get the best and clearest vr ?? Its a minefield of options
