Everybody likes a good sing-along. And now with the vast and growing content-goodness of AMS2 it is increasingly possible to have a jolly good race-along as well. By that I mean that you can keep an eye on the motorsports calendar and simulate upcoming events. This of course makes watching the real event all the more enjoyable. You can then say knowledgeable things like "I'm not sure that was the right line through there" or "My PB is quicker than that." Or, more likely, "Yes, I crashed right there too". To do that you need a calendar of major events and I couldn't find a good one so I made one using Wikipedia. Things to note: I made it for me and I provide it as is for you to use (or not) as you see fit. It may (probably will!) have mistakes in it. DO NOT BOOK TRAVEL OR REARRANGE WEDDING PLANS WITHOUT CHECKING AN OFFICIAL SITE. Seriously. It contains the race series I mainly follow and there are already 160+ events in it. I can't put everything in... I KNOW THERE IS A LOT OF YOUR FAVOURITES MISSING. NASCAR added. Dates are in some cases approximate - e.g. it might have only the first or last day of a race weekend. In the Indy Car / NASCAR Circuits - O = Oval, R = Road and S = Street. I hope you find it useful. CLICK ON THE IMAGE TO ENLARGE AND READ IT [UPDATED WITH NASCAR!]
Thanks! Given I have only a vague idea of what scraping is... done by hand mostly - copying and pasting from Wikipedia. Then a tiny bit of Excel magic to clean it up. Whole thing took about 90 minutes while I watched Bathurst 12-hour on a second screen.
I am interested in collecting some data like this sort of thing for a career mod i'm working on slowly in my spare time... so this is why i was curious! If i come up with something to pull from wikipedia I will let you know!
That's great thanks for sharing, I've used this one on Android for years; https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=it.calendarimotorsport
