What do you think? vote => https://doodle.com/poll/vca66a838mhezhzz?utm_source=poll&utm_medium=link Could a petition and monthly financial support help to finally make multiplayer suitable for an online league? My idea is to donate 5 EUR/$ monthly for 6 months so that the Reiza team might give in and fix all the bugs and add the missing options for a real online multiplayer experience. I just can't think of anything else, to save this racing pearl for us online league drivers.
Just marry a rich, nearly about to die, woman, then with her money you can give Reiza a couple of millions
You'd probably be better served if everyone spent their money instead on upgrading their Internet connections. Because of the peer-to-peer system, it only seems to take a few people with bad pings for the entire lobby to start desyncing.
That could cause some fireworks in this forum if the development does not go well according to the donors, Should they start immediately or can they save the money and continue to carry out their own plan? I have my reservations - What does optimize mean, What needs to be done differently in concrete terms? - Is money going to heal or is there something else going on so that the League possibilities are not yet to your liking - Will the development of the game not be brought into disrepair ?, the focus will be too much on "league" features, (Does it compromise the release of new content ?) - I dislike Advertising Trackdays for leagues, in a public lobby, races that never become a race - I wouldn't like a "join while the race is on" option in the public lobbies. - And I certainly don't have to think about a "restart the race" function (in public lobbies) I will never pay for these functions, I rather pay to leave them out. I have a greater interest in a better public lobby, with, for example, scheduled races, and the possibility to save a lobby profile so that we do not have to go through all the settings all the time.
even if that was true, switching to a different network type would fix this issue, so even people with dialup can play without ruining it for others (except for when they teleport around) the multiplayer needs a proper 2022 network design that isnt from a call of duty modernwarfare era. p2p was always trash and will stay that way. the negatives greatly outshine to positives. also i dont think its that much work to port the existing stuff over to a true dedicated system, all the essentials are in place, such as lagcompensation/predicition even tho they do fail often at their job. while they are at it, they could dump the terrible lobby system and instead just integrate an admin menu so tracks/cars can be switched while on track. quite frankly i think to make the userexperience in the multiplayer section good, everything from the point u click the multiplayer button needs a recode. i highly doubt they are willing todo that, even if they got 500$ per month extra. coding progress has been terribly slow over the last 2 years, and this would be a huge effort. i stopped playing cuz its just not bearable for me anymore. its too tedious and i rather do something else with my time, the longer i play the more annoyed i get. usually its the other way around, where u learn to live with problems in games.
Development cannot work like that, because donating people would feel being entitled to stuff. It can only come from Reiza (maybe with a Patreon) if they wanted people to donate money (maybe for specific goal), and probably with no guarantee of anything. I'd gladly give 5$/month with no strings attached. I really wished Reiza could hire one or two more developers (ie working on code). The Madness engine is a huge beast and this would not be a luxury for having some core developments happening faster. I feel that on the art side Reiza is well staffed, but not enough software developers (developer speaking here). But what do I know, that's wishful thinking and might not be feasible for various reasons...
On my oppinion a good / reliable online system should be on reizas very own interest to get peoples try out this sim and - more important - keep them coming for more. I've had a few online races with very different emotions regarding the network system. on some races, things have been smooth, being able to do some proper wheel to wheel racing. at other times, it really didn't feel good with cars jumping all over the place without being able to predict what the car in front or next to you is going to do next. Thought AMS2 had some sort of hybrid system with proper dedicated servers, if provided and also the option to race on p2p. But, reading this thread, is everything p2p in the end? Especially online, for me it is very important to have reliable network code, the outcome of racing is sometimes decided by only a few centimeters, so jumping cars have no place in that. We know Reiza is priorizing offline racing so far, but hope we will see improvements here in the future.
Thank you, that was exactly my intention! To give Reiza food for thought, possibly to raise a "little bit of money" and to employ experienced professionals for a certain period of time! Desire => will => enthusiasm => financial => know-how ... and let's go! ;-)
Reiza will get more money anyway as time goes by as the long standing bugs are worked through and other improvements are worked on as more people will buy the game in a more complete state. The speed at which the above is happening is the biggest thing holding back the SIM at the moment.
I can't argue with that because I don't know enough of the details, but I understand R3E also uses some kind of P2P system for car contacts and their netcode is pretty much as good as it can get.
I think this kind of basic unstability is poisonous for a racing game where a huge part is/should be the MP part. And this stability part is exactly one of the main reasons iRacings 24/7 MP system is doing so good. Because iRacings netcode was originally developed and refined in the famous NR2003 (and later back in GPL) where the netcode had to cope with lousy dial up connections. About 10 years ago I was driving in different NR2003 leagues (GTP mod olala ) and we had never some of these connection problems as often seen here. The NR2003 and even better iRacings netcode is THE state of the art netcode at the moment.
