Adding GT/VLN cut to AMS2

I was in qualifying for a single race earlier and I wanted to save 6 minutes by taking the VLN/GT cut on the 24hr layout of the Nordschleife. However, when I took the cut after the chicane, I turned right and went through the cut onto the main straight and it did not reset my lap time when I went over the start/finish. Is it possible to add this feature in all layouts/tracks of the Nürburgring? Or is there a setting that I need to turn on? Apologies, I am still learning this game.
