A few months ago I was running GTE races in the Corvette at about 95/95 and really had no problems staying out front without too much effort. I had started a championship and qualified on the pole for the first race, then put the game away for some time due to life.
I came back, started my first race, and wow, the AI were much faster, (this race was at Daytona), and much better in the corners. I used to be able to dive bomb them in the corners because they always slowed down.. now .. wow.. they are really taking the bus stop as fast as, if not faster, than me.. They don't just all slow down on every corner. Now I can't rely on them giving me position without fighting, or even getting aggresive with me if I cut them off!
Now I really have to fight for positions.. small errors, slip ups, etc.. I'm not talking about gross errors.. but just not taking a turn or chicane with the optimal line/braking/etc.. and they are all over me.. they also seem to draft now.. if they get behind me on the long turns 3/4, I can sense their momentum building and they pass..
Great job Reiza! I actually had to turn my AI down to 90/90 .. I know that I probably should not do that.. I should probably take the challenge and learn to drive better.. but I'm lazy lol.. and running a 4 hour endurance race under constant stress .. man.. that is tough! .so I choose the easy route.. just lower their speed. I feel a little guilty but hahaha..

Maybe it depends on the track but I have the opposite observation and I was disappointed to see that even at 100% AI and aggression the AI is still easy to pass on the inside before turns because they brake too early. As I recall this problem has been plaguing the game forever and I don't understand why this (and the bad camera usability) aren't a top priority for the devs. It seems they'd rather keep tweaking existing vehicles endlessly.

I'm kinda new to the game too and it seems the AI can be a little bit too easy, I understand from other members that for some cars like the Kart 390's the AI has to be on 120% but also even the Formula Trainers I have to crank up the AI above 100%...is there a percentage of what would be considered "Real Life" AI.

I guess I'm just not a fast driver then :)... But I'm happy with the AI. Sorry that you don't have the same experience!

Maybe its cause I play in VR so I can see every inch of my turn ins and breaking points, If I was doing 2D I would prolly be slower.

I've been away for awhile and noticed that the AI are just generally better overall, they're still having their weird physics defying movements at times and depending on the classes they can be too slow in some corners and too fast in others.

But as said generally they're better, but they're still lacking "Natural" mistakes, I'm not seeing brake locking, spins, AI crashes with other AI - was I right in thinking this was already in the Sim? Or did I dream that?....as said it's been awhile!

AMS2 AI is able to do forced and unforced mistakes, yes.

It probably would be best if the AI had to deal with the same physics as the player. It would probably drive more naturally, including making mistakes, but it would require the AI to be reworked, assuming the AI uses different physics from the player physics. Also there might be a performance/FPS issue with lots of AI.

I don't think it needs the same physics as the player. What it does need is the random swerving removed and given better race craft like never trying to overtake you off track. It has improved but I think it still has a way to go yet.

I am not looking forward to any increased mistakes by the AI, I would prefer they have better consistency first and proper race craft.

Ok thanks I'll have to keep my eyes on them, not seen any evidence as yet but not done many races recently.
As above there is still a way to go for race craft for the AI though, it is getting there.
