    Hi,

This topic that popped up a few days ago reminded me of a long hidden memory.

    Topic: 3000 hrs
The memory: Old DR No Lifers :: DiRT Rally General Chat

In 2015 I started Dirt Rally No Lifers, which has a similar layout as below. It was received very well, and a lot of people and friends from the days have their names memorialized. So I created this topic as I think it's fun, it's interesting to see who has which playtime, and of course it bonds the community.

Please state your playtime, either main or main + beta combined and I will update the list.

Thank you very much and keep on racing!

    Marius

429+99 for public and beta respectively.

AMS2 is still my 4th most played game (after ETS2, AC and Witcher 3) so those numbers may be relatively small but it's still a lot for me. And it keeps growing :)

I've been on 750 hours in each version for the last year, even though I've played AMS2 more than all my other games combined. Reason is some kind of Steam cloud error between my PC and Steam Deck, so each time I play it knocks back the number of hours to the previous saved version on the other system. Based on hours per previous year I'm probably closer to 900 in each, and I'm still finding new things to do.

    Approaching Senna.

If I had more time I am pretty sure I would be at fanboy level

452.7 + 750. But if I didn't take the last two years off because of not having a rig (refused to play with a controller) I would be at Fangio level:D

Just the 190.5 hours for me, which I admit is shameful but then I play soooo many other games/sims it's probably not surprising!

Steam play times are not exactly super accurate. If you leave a game running for hours in the background, whether knowingly or because you forgot it, they will be counted. And they can be faked
That's why every time I see someones reporting huge play times (especially over 1000), I am very skeptical. Deduce 20% from that as the minimum.
Never understood these play time contests either (not specific to AMS2), where people are proud of their playing time.

@bobbie424242 Don't take it too seriously. You're absolutely right about the numbers, though. When I record the replay of a race it counts as playtime although I'm not even in front of my screen.

    Back to topic:
    AMS 2 Beta: 1040 h
    AMS 2: 384 h

It's a fair point that all that time isn't spent driving because there's always tinkering to do. Remember the PC Gamer mantra: "If it ain't broke, mess around with it until it is."
Also I do enjoy setting a replay running and just watching it in the background while I'm doing other things, so even if I'm not driving, I'm still enjoying the game, or playing, so I guess that counts.

I agree that Steam playtimes aren't accurate and can be faked (Steam playtimes can also be unaccounted for if you play offline mode or if you lose connection while playing), but if you play a lot and only play one game you could easily reach 1000+ hours.
Nowadays I don't have much time to play, and I play a number of other games besides AMS2. But there was a time when I'd play 2hrs a day from Monday until Friday and 5hrs a day on Saturday and Sunday. That's 20hrs per week, multiply that times 52 weeks and you get 1040hrs of play in 1 year.
Then you have streamers who play one game many hours everyday, those guys can easily reach tens of thousands of hours in a game.

This topic is for fun, so no need to take the huge playtimes seriously.
