Those of us at the Champions League (Discord Server!) welcome new participants for our third season of historic F1 racing. In the past, we have used the Formula Classic Gen 3 cars and the F1 V10 Gen 1 cars. This season, we are moving farther back in time to the 1970s-style F1 Retros category. *** Open Participation: There are no requirements to join. We encourage drivers of all skill levels to participate if they are interested in clean and friendly racing. We also encourage all drivers to join our discord community. The discord is a good place to share setup advice, discuss driving tips, notify friends when we are currently hosting multiplayer sessions, etc. *** Key Information: (1) The season will include seven official races that count for points and are run using the Formula Retros in AMS2. These are held roughly in a two-on / one-off format (e.g., two races in successive weekends, followed by a weekend off). During off weeks, we might hold unofficial, non-championship events using different cars and tracks. (2) Lobbies will open on Fridays at 5:00 pm U.S. Eastern Time (22:00 GMT). Events consist of 40 minutes of open practice, 20 minutes of qualifying, and then the race. (We might extend the qualifying time for the Nordschleife event, given the time required to complete an out lap / flying lap.) (3) The seven official events are tentatively set to distances of roughly 120km, though we might modify this going forward. (We are aiming for total race durations of 35-40 minutes; for lower speed tracks this may require a slightly shorter race distance.) (4) Events will be held in dry (clear or cloudy) conditions. Track time for practice, qualifying, and race sessions is always set to 14:00. Weather and time progression are set to normal speed. (5) Drivers are expected to uphold appropriate on-track etiquette. Dirty driving, blocking, disobeying blue flags, or any other unsporting behavior on track will result in a penalty, disqualification, or prohibition from future events. Complete rules are available in the discord. Our overriding goal is to create a league in which we compete respectfully. (6) Championship scoring will follow a 9-6-4-3-2-1 system. A driver’s five best results will count toward their championship calculations. This will also enable drivers to miss several events without a championship penalty. Tie-breakers will be determined based on highest finishing positions. (7) Damage is set off, but mechanical failures are on. Please set your radiator and brake duct settings accordingly. Tire wear and fuel usage are set at normal speed. Traction control, ABS, and stability assists are not allowed. Pitstops are not required. *** Schedule Round 1: February 26 Kyalami Historic 1976 (3.888 km) Weather: Clear 31 laps Round 2: March 5 Interlagos Historic 1976 Weather: Medium Cloud 16 laps Round 3: March 19 Spielberg Historical 1974 (No Chicane) Weather: Light Cloud 21 laps Round 4: March 26 Adelaide Historic 1988 Weather: Clear 32 laps Round 5: April 9 Silverstone Historic 1975 Weather: Medium Cloud 26 laps Round 6: April 16 Nordschleife 2020 (historic, if released) Weather: Clear 6 laps Round 7: April 23 Spa 2020 (historic, if released) Weather: Medium Cloud 18 laps
We sincerely apologize for posting this with late notice. I've had a very busy past few weeks, and the league founder (Prophet/Gashina) has been temporarily sidelined by an injury. Nevertheless, we ran a demo event last week at Goiania with roughly 17-20 participants. Hopefully we will continue to field full grids going forward. Remember, there is no registration required!
