What are your thoughts? Does anyone have experience w/ both?

They are the same price (+- $20) and I can't make up my mind.

If same same in VR (I'm using HP Reverb G2 w/ 3080),

I'd obvisouly get the 5900X due to much better workstaion performance.

    Cheers!

Thanks for posting but I'm not concern about low resolution or other titles (only AMS2).
I currently have a 5600x and am considering upgrading but don't belive the hype.
If someone can convince me.. :)

All I care about is 1% low, at crazy resolutions (VR).
Gamer Muscle seem to feel it's a big deal compared to 5600x but I'd like to see some benchmarks
or someone here w/ some experience chime in.

    Cheers!

Thanks that's a good one. Marginal diff at 1% low in AMS2 vs the 7950x (12%).
That's like 11ms to 10ms frame time which is ok.

If I were trying to decide between the 5800x3d and the 7950x at the same price,
I'd deffiantely go for the 7950x.

The question is how that would loOk vs the 5900x and 5600x to see if it's worth the $500.
If the 5900x or 5800x3d (vs my 5600x) can gain me 2ms frame time that might be worth $500.
Only guessing at this point in time. Hmmm....

    Cheers mate!

EDIT - Just found this (not exactly what I'm looking for but more data)

    RYZEN 7 5800X3D vs RYZEN 5600X vs RYZEN 5900X | Test in 6 Games

OK think I've seen enough random benchmarks showing that in VR the 5800x3d beats the 7950x as rmagid1010 pointed out. Therefore it will beat the 5900x by even more.

I'm leaning toward the 5800x3d at this point in time.

My PC bible the german monthly Magazine PCGameHW did in 2022 rate the 3d thing as clearly the absolutely best CPU for gaming at the moment;)

Just got back from buying it to read your post BrunoB :)

I'll beilive anything out of Germany or Japan.
All my gear is German or Japanese made (if I can help it), they know quality.

I'll report back w/ some benchmarks comparing my 5600x to the 5800x3D.
Let me know if there is anything (AMS2 Benchmark) in particular you guys want to see.

    Cheers

    Neither am I :)
And I have just regret that I have bought a new headphone in a german e-shop Alternate.
Two(2) days after the garantee did run out the headphone stopped working.
Alternate: We are sorry my man but you are out of garantee.

ByTheWay: No german shopping for me - anymore

With my 4090 and a Vive Pro2 getting a solid 90 fps, the 5800x3d is at 4 ms. This is with 30 cars (AI) daytime. Memory is 3000 mhz at 16 timing.

    Well new CPU is in.

Over that game ran a little smoother but DR2 is POS as we all know. :)

Very marginal differance over my 5600X. Not worth a $500 upgrade, but hey cheerper than a new vid card, and gave me a dump until I do get that new vid card. This platform will be ready for it.

Let me know if you have any questions. This by no means was ment to be a scientific bench.
Just some quick and dirty info to share. I've got me some smoother racing to do!

    Cheers mates!

Interesting. What do you use to measure frame time?

I'm running a 5950X and wondering if its worth to upgrade to 7950X3D

Using fpsVR it's a very good Ap. I have is setup so I see it only when I glance down while racing.
Here is what I see when I glance down (this isn't mine it's a random of images.google):

    upload_2023-1-15_6-3-44.jpeg

I got the CPU to help tide me over till I can get a new GPU.
Since you already have a 4090, I would say no don't bother (at $500).
My suggestion would be to wait till you get a new GPU, and buy it used then.
It's likely the best CPU we'll see for AM4. After that we are looking at a whole new build.

interesting results, thanks for posting. I’m currently on a 5600x and am thinking of upgrading to the 5800x3d. I use triple monitors at 1080p / 72fps. I very occasionally get a stutter, and I wondered if the 5800x3d would resolve this.

Now you’ve had the 5800x3d for a while, can you comment if you think this is a worthwhile upgrade? Do you ever get stutters (eg. Final corner at Imola).

    Thanks.

I'm also interested in hearing your subjective thoughts on quality. I have a 5700x and an RTX3070, with an HP Reverb G2. I'm clearly CPU limited, experiencing stutters at specific corners every time but smooth performance otherwise. Does the 5800x3D get rid of these stutters?
