In this video I want to figure out how you can drive a 6-gear H-pattern-transmitted F1 car, as close to reality as you ever can get!

Do you use a H-pattern-shifter as well?

Yup! Personally, I felt the McLaren MP4/6 as the fastest car you could possibly drive with H pattern and Heel and Toe, and it really pushes your limits on what you can do. Anything faster than that and you need to be superhuman just to reliable up and downshift it! Curiously, while the semiautomatic gearboxes appeared officially at Grand Prix Racing in 1989 with aerodynamics on mind and not faster/easier shifting, IMO they were implemented just in time, as cars would have been nuts to drive on fully manuals as speeds continued to increase. Just imagine driving a car like the V10 Gen 2 on a fully manual (you can try gating the gears, but the electronics do the rest)!
