For some time now I have seen that GPU consumption has risen from 45/50% to 90/95%. I have monitored the NVIDIA graphics card well and I have seen that it tends to reduce the MHZ at the expense of increasing GPU consumption. For some time NVIDIA has changed the power management options. Before we had three options: optimal, adaptive, maximum performance. For some time NVIDIA has been reducing these options to two: normal and maximum performance. The problem is that the normal mode is very conservative in reducing energy and lowering the MHZ when the game is at full capacity, bringing its consumption to almost 100% but with low MHZ. It is advisable to set this option to maximum performance to allow the GPU to operate at its maximum speed, reducing its usage to 50%. It is more optimal and stable for the execution of the tasks but we do not save electricity. Who wants a 3070 consuming 70w and wasting stability? Check the power management option on the control panel and set it to maximum performance. Monitor before and after. and test the simulator well in both circumstances. tell me later.
Agree but don't set to max performance globally, set it on a game by game basis otherwise applications (Google, YouTube, etc.) that don't need max GPU will use it anyway.
I am on a 4080S and 5800X3D, this post got me curious and I tested the 2 NVIDIA power profiles I have only noticed very marginal differences in GPU load, and the core frequency was pretty much the same as well maybe for lower end GPU it does make a difference but again for me, not obvious at all its true though that running Night/rain was pushing obviously the GPU load to >90% but again,I didnt notice any difference comparing both NVIDIA power mode will test in VR later today as I was running the Game on my 4K TV PS I know the Game engine is quite optimized, one thing has always bothered me is the relatively low VRAM usage. I am running at 4K, every single graphic setting maxed out and driving at Kansai in day time shows 5.2Gb usage and night/rain would show 5.6Gb is that normal such a low VRAM usage?
I don't know for sure, but I'd guess that might be to do with the engine being able to run on PS4/Xbox
