Hi all, braking with trucks is not easy in AMS 2, brakes are overheating very fast. But I'm wondering that braking temp always rises up so very fast and to extrem high temperatur of about 800°C-900°C (with max. open air duct). This temp is much to much for steel brakes but I can't avoid it. In European Truck Racing Championship (ETRC) they use water cooling for the brakes. I don't know but I think that in brasilien truck racing they will also use water cooling. In the game ETRC brake temp. is about 300°C - 400°C (see video), half of AMS. Is it me, doing something wrong or do others also have this problem? Does anybody know if we get water cooled brakes?
I don't think you're doing anything wrong. Racing truck brakes can and will reach ridiculous temperatures very quickly given they're trying to slow down something which weighs in excess of five tonnes. That's why they have water cooling systems, because no way is air alone enough to cool them down between corners. I'm thinking that water cooling isn't currently being modelled in AMS 2 which would explain the temps. It'll be interesting to see whether Reiza go down the route of actually adding water cooling, or whether they just lower the temp build up to "simulate" it instead.
Sure, braking down >5 tonnes is something different to 500kg or 1000kg. It sounds good that others have also the same problem or I don't do anything wrong. I hope that we get water cooling, this would be something special and will give more challenge beside "only" truck racing which does make so much fun when you crank the steering wheel from one end to the other...
