Superlight is the faster car and if following the real cars about 50kg lighter than Supersport due to the use of lighter parts, carbon etc. Caterham doesn't use the Superlight/Supersport names anymore instead using the BHP/ton as the model 270 / 360 / 420 / 620 and S for Sport (road car) and R for Race (track weapon).

AMS1 has some good descriptions of the cars in the Showroom.

Although both the AMS2 cars currently have 360R decals on the dash I suspect the Supersport is a 360R (180bhp 2.0 Ford Duratec) and the Superlight is actually the 420R (210bhp 2.0 Ford Duratec)

Also if you give them a run on track you'll immediately notice the performance difference, for example, my times @ Brands Hatch Indy:

    Superlight: 51.994
    Supersport: 56.969

    Hope that helps :)

    Would love to see a name-change indeed. Acadamy, 360r, 420r, 620r. Boom! :D
