Hello all, I am hoping that someone can help steer me in the right direction on this one. I've recently enjoyed racing a custom championship with the JCW Mini. It's been something a little different and has been great fun. It's also something that I would like to do again, but with a few tweaks to the previous format I had, the trouble is, I'm just not sure if/how I can do it. My previous Championship attempt was a 2 race per round format, with qualifying setting the Race 1 grid, and then the result of Race 1 setting the grid for Race 2. This worked and functioned fine, but it did make the 2nd race a little too predictable, so I'd like to add in a little jeopardy and spice to the next Championship. I'd like to have a 2 or 3 race per round format, and I'd like to have a reverse grid, or reverse top 10 or something along those lines for Race 2 and/or Race 3. What would be the icing on the cake, but I am certain it is not available in the game, would be a vehicle handicap system applied to the top10 for Race 2 and/or Race 3. For example: - The previous Race winner loses 500RPM, 2nd 450RPM, 3rd 400RPM and so on. - The JCW Mini does use a Turbo, so maybe a similar thing, but with the boost available. That would really mix things up. If anyone knows of how I could achieve any of this without fiddling in the background files... or even if they have a Championship setup that I could use/adapt for the JCW Mini that they have found mixed things up, I'd be really keen to learn and hear about it. Thanks all and all the best Andy P.S. I did do a subject search and didn't see a generic Championship Mode thread. If there is one and I've just Mr Magoo'd my way past it, please feel free to move this into that thread.
That sound a bit outside of the scope of the game. All these extra features would be awesome, but it doesn't sound like it's in the cards for this title.
Totally agree with the handicap/BoP bits. That is shooting for the moon and is definitely a development request which potentially moves AMS2 away from being a simulation of reality. I should have probably kept that bit out of my original post to keep things clearer, I just got a bit excited. . If there is any way of achieving the reverse grid, reverse top 10 or any other ideas to help mix things up, I'd really appreciate people sharing any ideas or experiences of doing so. I’ve had a good look and didn’t see it, but just want to make sure I’m not missing something obvious or hidden in plain sight. Thanks all Andy
Thanks for confirming. I could have sworn that I saw it in a YouTube video using the Brazilian Stock cars. I must have imagined it though because I’ve tried long and hard to find that same video again but cannot. I may still be going mad, but at least the responses so far suggest I haven’t missed anything obvious in the game itself
This post is a little premature, but I’m excited. Not quite ready to give up and accept I was going mad, I have just trawled through my YouTube history going back months and months and have found the video that sparked my original post. Yes, for anyone reading this, I am very obstinate. Haha! Link below. I’ll give this a try later and see if it is how it works or not and report back. For now though, current information suggests that it can apply to stock car pro series.
Update... I hope this is helpful for people. Please bear in mind this is just a quick test and is not exhaustive. I also apologise if you read this and your response in your head is "Well, duh, but that's not what you asked us buddy" haha. This is news to me, and I'll be straight up about it... I'm really pleased I've found it, even if I can't apply it to my beloved JCW Mini (it appears to be hard-coded into the Stock Car pre-set championship(s) and not currently available in a custom championship). Anyway, let's get to the detail: - Using Championship Mode > Stock Car Pro Series 2024 - Not really relevant, but for completeness, Race Distance > 30%, Skill > 100, Aggression > High - Practice skipped - Qualified 1st - R1 Starting Slot Given: 12th (Top 12 Qualifying order reversed) - R1 Result: 2nd (It was a bitter pill to swallow, but I gave the win away to make the test valid... honest) - R2 Starting Slot Given: 1st (Used the original Qualifying order) - Didn't do R2 as I had already got my answer and wanted to update you guys (or anyone who cares enough to read this far, anyway haha) As an aside, I am very much a JCW Mini person, aside from the odd venture into other cars, I have not found anything that gives me "the feels" like the JCW Mini does... but these 2024 Stock Cars were very close to it. To the point that I'm really pleased to have tried them as part of this test, and I think I will likely invest some time into learning how to get the best out of them now. Really enjoyable to drive and I can imagine at 120 being extremely difficult to match. All details of the test above in screen shots below for anyone whose interested: Qualifying Result: R1 Start Grid (Not sure why it has "Custom Event" at the top, found that odd): R1 Result: R2 Grid: All the best Andy
interesting. I would have thought race two would have the reverse grid, perhaps different series have different rules? Thanks for the test.
Race 2 is the longer of the 2 races, and according to the below site, the series awards more points for the longer race (although, I didn’t do Race 2 in my test, so I am unsure if that is the same in AMS2 at this point). So I suppose it’s fairer to use the original qualifying order for that longer race where more points are up for grabs. And from a spectacle point of view, to have the more valued race with the greater spectacle to be the last race may help keep fans at the track for longer, in real life. A Brazilian Gem - The Stock Car Pro Series - Grand Prix Rejects I’ve never really paid it any attention before, but I have to say, it’s been interesting reading and learning about it. They also have a YouTube channel which shows some good examples of the actual racing style. It’s hard racing, largely respectful, very competitive. https://youtube.com/@stockcarchannel?si=Ncznc7T4H192zwIg I’m gutted that I can’t setup the custom championship to behave in a similar way, but I’m really pleased I’ve gone down this rabbit hole.
