TLDR - AMS2 should integrate an app like this

as an alternative or even replacement to Random or Real Weather setting - and call it "Dynamic Weather"

Back in the pCARS/pCARS2 days, a huge headache was that choosing "Random" for a slot was truly random - you could have snow storm, followed by Sunny, followed by Fog, followed by light rain. Truly bunkers and fun sometimes, but hugely immersion breaking when trying to have a realistic race session. As I understand it, AMS2's Random setting is a lot smarter - it takes the chance of rain for that track at that time of year into account when choosing the weather for the slot. But it remains opaque - we don't know what % chance of rain the game has chosen - or if its even working. I did a single race at Long Beach with Random setting, and it was heavy rain, followed by light rain, followed by heavy rain - the track ended up flodded - undriveable - red flag worthy - it never rains in LA - that nagging feeling that it's not working well is discouraging.

Then there's Real Weather - it's such an amazing feature and idea. It would be wonderful to have it work. But for whatever reason, it just isn't reliable - I don't know where the error is coming from, but doing a custom championship with it, and it's wet weather in every event, almost every session - flooded tracks, etc. The same nagging feel.

So, I would recommend to do something different. That app that chose the weather randomly based on a % chance of rain chosen either by the player (or preferably the game) in pCARS2 did a lot to increase the enjoyment of the game. Show the slots with a % chance of precipitation on top of it. Having this system integrated into the game itself would go a long way to give peace of mind that the weather will work as intended, and still be realistic and dynamic.

Do you mean something like ACC’s precipitation slider?

I haven't played ACC so I wouldn't know, a precipitation slider sounds interesting.

But what's appealing about that app, from a developer point of view, is that it changes nothing about how the Madness Engine handles weather - you still have the 1-4 slots, you still still have to fill them in with some weather type.

If that very app was implemented into the game, and all you changed was the presentation of how those slots are filled (by either letting the player choose the # of slots and a % chance for each, or having the game do it and it telling you "we chose 3 slots and each has 10%"), then in my view, it would improve the game.
