Dedicated Server - non DLC user can't join session with DLC track

Hi all,

We've managed to set up dedicated server for AMS2, but we've run into an issue. We have a session set up with DLC track (silverstone 75), but it appears that if a player without DLC joins to session first it will show him an error regarding not having required DLC. It's confusing, as I've read multiple times that people without DLC still will be able to join servers with DLC tracks?

Do I understand correctly that even if we've set up dedicated server the first person in the server is the host and that's why the DLC is required from him? Is there any possibility to avoid this? As a league organizer I don't really know how can I let non-DLC users do the practice in between our weekly events. Is there any workaround that other leagues/servers do to avoid this? Setting up AMS2 client with DLC to run 24/7 on a server just to be sure that non-DLC people can join in any time?

 

@Kro hey, I've seen in other thread that you are also using Emperor Server Manager - do you have maybe any solution to the question above? Sorry for the ping!

 

From what I've learned from running in leagues as a driver the first person to join is still the host...

The ping for all drivers still has to go through the host, so if the host is further away from the physical location of the server the pings for everyone jump significantly the further the host is away from the server...

This to me basically ruins the whole point of a dedicated server, and some leagues have simply gone back to p2p for better pings and preferable hassles...

 

Hi, we don't have a solution for the non-DLC players trying to join solo, I think you are correct about the first player joining as host needing the dlc but I don't know for sure. & yes the DED using the ping of the host is true however the one advantage for leagues using DED's is the sms_stats_data result files that you won't get with a player-hosted session...

 

the host must definitely own the DLC.
There would be no cause for buying any DLC if it would be so easy to simply setup a DS to fully forget buying track DLCs.
Create a DS on your homePC and play every track? Nice exploit, if working
