Obviously 1.6 is a massive achievement, with improvements across the board. The on-track action is incredible. For longer endurance type races against the AI, however, there are some limitations still that can be worked around with settings to maximize enjoyment of AMS2. After a great deal of testing I'd like to share these with the AMS2 community. FUEL AND TIRE WEAR The AI is quite sensitive to running with worn tires and are quite eager to pit to get new rubber. For this reason, it's important to have the tire wear at a lower level than fuel. For instance, x2 fuel and x1 (authentic) tire wear will work well. x2 tire wear works okay, but at x3, you'll find a number of the AI will pit before their fuel runs out, potentially compromising their race and giving the player a big advantage. Otherwise x1 fuel and tires is the standard and should work well. FCY If you run x2 or higher fuel, turn off Full course Yellows at long race tracks like LeMans. There is a limitation with the AI where they won't always pit during a safety card period when they really ought to. A lot will, but some won't - probably to vary up the pit strategy? If the safety car comes out at a long track like LeMans however, those that stayed out might run out of fuel on the next lap after the safety car period. This will trigger another FCY, and more cars may run out of fuel, trigger another FCY, in a vicious cycle. So if you want to run FCYs (and I know I do because they add so much to the game), x1 fuel rate is ideal. WEATHER In 1.6, LiveTrack 3.0 (the system that runs the track evolution, dampness, rubbering in, drying rate) is directly tied to time progression. So if you intend to use a rain slot, or Real Weather (my preference for unpredictable, realistic weather patterns), x15 time progression is the highest recommended setting. Otherwise, if you choose x60, for instance, so 1 minute = 1 hour, if it starts to rain, in a single minute the track will accumulate as much rain as it would over the course of an hour. And you probably won't have time to make it back to the pits to switch tires. I hope these are useful! Happy racing!
if a dev get visibility on this, pls let me know if I'm off base, or if for the time being it would be a good idea
