did a MP race on nürburg GP earlier and noticed that all modes were available in all session types, including the race. so i looked over the patchnotes again and some of the options are marked as "not used in race", so i am not sure if this is a bug, as in it shouldnt be possible to use a few options or if they just arent used IRL but could be(?). anyhow if this is a bug, this is just a headsup i guess
Yes, that's actually by design. It was decided to change that, because restricting ERS modes per session doesn't really make the most sense. The text needs to be updated. I assume, it will happen after the weekend!
i see. so the Qual mode is just an "Attack+" mode then when used during the race on another note, the "auto" mode seemed to act quite weirdly at times, eg setting me ERS to Off in the middle of a flying lap in qualy while it was still above 95% (didnt go offtrack or anything) i assume this feature just needs work and will improve over time, so no hurry
Basically "scenario 7" you could call it, yeah...full beans deploy. It's very possible, that it still has hickups on some tracks, indeed. Will very likely improve further!
You can use quali ERS mode in race but that doesn't make much sense strategy-wise since you'll run out of ERS fairly quickly depending on the track.
Well...depends: Remember the McLaren effort to bring Lando into the 5s penalty window of the car in front to get the podium? That was managed by ERS deploy and very fast and consistent lapping. (you have to watch the link on YT)
yea just kickin in the qualy mode for a lap to get in DRS range faster could get me sucked up faster than me wasting the same amount of ERS in attack mode for longer
Just a little question I have in my mind regarding ERS deployment: besides depleting the energy faster, is it any power unit kind of penalty, ie: accelerated damage, sudden temperature increase, etc. modeled if we abuse the ERS system in a given stint? Thanks!
