Fanatec CSL DD some functions just drop out

Hello,
I'm hoping someone can help with this as I'm at a loss right now.
First, I have been playing AMS2 since the beginning and never had the issues I have now.
The issues below only happen in AMS2 and not other sims. I don't play many, but RaceRoom, AC, F1 series all work ok.
I have a Fanatec CSL DD wheel with two pedals. About once every 3rd race or practice I will suddenly lose all button functions. The wheel still works and the throttle/brakes still work. When it does this it also seems to lose all force feedback.
In a race I'm done because I can't shift anymore.
The only solution is to quit AMS2 and restart. AMS2 never has any issues finding the wheel or assigning buttons. They all seem to be recognized. It is only during a race that this happens.
-What I've done to try to resolve it (unsuccessfully).
-Updated all drivers in the Fanatec wheel/base set.
-Changed from "auto" to an option with a different degree of rotation.
-Changed USB port.
-Completely re-installed AMS2 several times, including removing all document folder items.
-Made sure that OneDrive is not running.
-Verified latest NVIDIA drivers were installed.

-Regarding my computer, it was new about 6 months ago. Basic specs are :
AMD Ryzen 7
64G RAM
Windows 11
NVIDA RTX 4070 12G
SSD (forget the brand but I had my system built by a company, not me lol)

(also again.. I only see this behavior with AMS2)

I am at a loss, because I don't see this happening in the other racing sims. I love AMS2 but it is getting frustrating. I did not see this in previous versions of AMS2 ever before. When it first happened, I just reset everything, re-installed all drivers for the wheel, and it worked for a while. Now it seems like it occurs almost every 3 or 4 races.

Any advice on what I can do to check where this problem is coming from would be greatly appreciated!

What preset in game do you use? HAve you chosen a fanatec wheelbase preset? If yes, change to custom or legacy

 

hmm good question. I will have to check that as I don't remember. I thought I picked something from Fanatec but I normally change the button assignments (for things like camera views, pit limiter, pit requests, etc..
