Just wondering what some of your favourite sounding cars are? Sound is a big part of the experience for me and some cars definitely sound more realistic than others in their current state, maybe there are some hidden gems I'm missing out on.

So far the M1 Procar, 911 RSR, C9 and G57 are favourites. I'm going back through all of them at the moment, but would be cool to hear suggestions or which cars you think need some love in the audio department. C8.r would be top of that list for me.

    Favourites:

Porsche 911 RSR GTE because they kept the straightpipe.
Porsche Carrera RSR because it is allowed to utilize the full 8500 RPM.
Porsche GT3-R because it sounds just bloody fantastic and authentic.
Stock Car Brasil Cruze 2019 because V8 modor.
M1 Procar because you don't have a soul, if you don't like it .
    Ope....Chevy Omega!

The C8.R is indeed muffled...it is what it is, though. It's a flatplane crank car that doesn't really sound that brilliant in the cockpit. I think, pCars2 tried to give such cars a bit more "rawr" and it ended up sounding like a casette recorder mic directly on the exhaust. :D

My least favourite sounding car is the Porsche GT3 Cup (both). The car should just receive the GT3-R sound set with reduced revs and it would sound more authentic.
The Boxer Cup soundset it has (which has lost all the excitement from the AMS1 sound, just compare it directly if you have AMS1), the low volume single whine, the low volume shifting sounds...it feels just dull and is not authentic by any means.

Nice! will take a listen to the Omega in a bit. The GT3-R does sound fantastic also, as does The stock car, sprint car and montana if memory serves me. The more full the sound with weird pops clicks and whistles the better.

The c8.r just makes that awful grinding noise at the limiter it's weird and none of the sliders remove it, I think there's a similar thing going on with a few other cars, maybe its a bug. Generally speaking it would be great if some of the sounds we get in external views, the crackles and pops could make their way more noticeably into the cockpit, in some cases they really sound excellent. But yeah I can live bad graphics if the rest is ok, but bad audio can just kill the experience for me sometimes.

    Thanks for the suggestions.

Dont forget the evo's too. For me they sound a little of.

Also the copa cars (mostly in high revs). Would love a more "raw" engine sound..

@azaris the BT46 both sounds, it doesn't suffer from the distortion some of the other old formula engines have up top. I don't drive Formula cars very often though always end up facing backwards for some reason...

@Periophtalmus Spintirus Will give the Judd a go tomorrow, personally I love prototypes, but audio wise they've been hit and miss for me, the Cadillac wasn't doing it for me and some of the Metalmoro sound a little obviously synthesized I love how it drives though and the V6 Turbo sounds decent as far as I can remember.

@Haris1977 Just went for a spin in all the Copa's and I know what you mean but as it goes I actually thought the Uno Classic and the Puma GTE don't sound to bad at all. The puma in particular.

Edit: I take it back of the Metalmoro AJRs it's just the Chevy I'm not crazy about, the others all have nicely layered sound to them and sound quite different from one and other.

I hear what you're saying, it definitely has a more throaty note that what we currently have in game. Some engines do sound a little more generic than others. Maybe in the future they'll have the opportunity to directly record some of the cars and make samples based off of those, or just revisit them in general.

Personally I'd rather they didn't try to introduce the distortion that comes across in these onboard recordings, if we're talking about the same thing I mean i.e the mic just not being able to capture the sound accurately and clipping like crazy. I think these kinds of distorted sounds have already made they're way into some cars audio and they tend to be the ones I have the biggest issue with.

It would be cool if they could recreate better the feeling of being inside what is essentially a tin can though, a little less damping and some more spatial cues.

Anyway there's always room for improvement, but back to the good stuff the F1 LT really does sound great, I kind of avoided it after release because the handling was too crazy for me but it seems much more manageable now and is next on the list for a custom championship.

Yes, but if you call for "realism", you must put you helmet on..You cant have an outside sound when you are inside whit muffled hears..

in game sounds are damped when you have the helmet visible in that view. But it's not as though they magically cancel out all exterior noise. Particularly as you travel back in time. Even still the 911 RSR measures 120ish db at the exhaust and motorsport earplugs are maybe rated somewhere between 30-40db. I'm sure there's still plenty of volume inside the cabin.

Really though, I'm just interested in which car sounds people find most enjoyable in whatever terms the choose to measure them.

I like the two most recent Porsche engine sounds and as others have said, the BT46 and other F1 cars.

I will say there are a couple of Porsche GT cars, the GT3 I think and one other, that have a turbo frequency at the limiter that genuinely hurts my ears, even with the volume low down.

I'm not exaggerating either; on the schleife I end up taking my hands off my wheel on the straight to cover my ears. I refuse to drive it now, causes me actual physical pain.

The closest thing I can compare it to is those mice/cat scarers that use sound, can't stand near those either, have to cover my ears.
