Automobilista 2 November 2023 Development Update
Greetings Everyone!
It´s been almost 5 months since our last Dev Update in June and almost 3 months since our last public release - not exactly a lifetime in game development, but a first for AMS2. Never since its original Early Access release has there been such a big gap with neither new game updates nor detailed news about them.
This isn´t a sign of AMS2 development slowing down – on the contrary, behind the scenes this has been one of the most intense and productive development cycles we have had, the results from this especially long cycle soon to be shared with you all.
Those of you used to following these dev updates will have read a lot about the challenges to develop and manage a game of this size – many cars, many tracks, many simulation variables, all of which under constant development with new features and new variables being brought in all the time keeping goalposts ever moving and making it harder to make it all work cohesively. The... -
Automobilista 2 V1.1.3.5 RELEASED!
This release comes exactly one year since our initial Early Access release on March 31 2020, and we have been pushing hard as we have through this whole year to celebrate the occasion with another major update!
Unfortunately some of the new features and core developments we had hopes to wrap in time for this update didn´t quite make it in time, but the work obviously isn´t lost - while this update isn´t quite the beefed up step we had hoped to deliver, our users can still look forward to these valuable developments making into the game in the coming weeks and months.
Our March update still packs a good punch with another sizeable list of improvements & fixes, additional layouts for the Historic Jacarepagua circuit, and a new historical class - the Formula Retro Generation 2, featuring the iconic Lotus 79!
The most significant physics development in this update is the substantial reduction of driveline friction levels, resulting improved... -
Automobilista 2 V1.5.6.1 RELEASED - Now Updated to V1.5.6.3
Along with the usual long list for general fixes & improvements, the new update adds the new Brazilian Stock Car 2024 season & a completely overhauled F-Ultimate Gen2.
As indicated in the 2024 March Dev Update, both the F-Ultimate Gen2 and the Stock Car 2024 already feature the V1.6 tire physics developments with adjusted hysteresis (but only partially revised thermodynamics & wear) - generally speaking the updates tires should feel slightly "sharper" and less tolerant to sliding than previously.
Both classes feature their 2024 respective DRS and Push-to-Pass rule updates, with DRS being allowed after lap 1 for the F-Ultimate Gen2 while the Stock Cars feature a higher number of shorter P2P boosts with no activation delay.
Still on the content front, following popular demand the Betonschleife (aka "concrete circuit") has been added as an option for the Historic Nürburgring , part of the Nürburgring DLC pack.
AMS2 V1.5.6 also features a much... -
Reiza March 2020 Development Update - An Update on AMS2 Release
Greetings everyone! I hope everyone is doing OK and keeping safe.
What a difference a month can make right? A few weeks ago we had just deployed the first Beta build for AMS2 and were still firing on all cylinders pushing through our Beta program to get AMS2 ready for release on March 31st - a lot of work has been done in the 3 weeks we have been in Beta - we have just deployed our 5th BETA build tonight - but a lot remains to be done, and for that we relied on a strong couple of weeks in this final stint to reach a standard we´d be satisfied with for Automobilista 2 v1.0.
Unfortunately the last week has seen the World thrown into disarray, and with it the little chance we still had to get through the remaining workload in time for the 31st evaporated, as even though we already work in a fully remote operation and the Reiza team has not been directly impacted by COVID-19, things like this tend to bring indirect implications which have and will continue... -
Automobilista 2 November 2021 Development Update
Greetings everyone - we´re in November now, and into what promises to be a very exciting month for Automobilista 2!
First things first - considering we ended up skipping the October Development Update and the fact there´s just way too much to cover this month in a single article , we´re going to do things slightly different this month by breaking down this November Update into two parts - this is part one, part two should be published on November 19th.
Let´s get on it:
Volkswagen TSI Cup by Acelerados coming to Automobilista 2!
By now most of you will have heard the big news about a project we alluded to a couple of months ago, and we couldn´t be happier to be finally announcing our collaboration with Volkswagen Brasil alongside the good people from Acelerados to bring you the VW TSI Cup by Acelerados to Automobilista 2.
For those not familiar with the show, Acelerados is an internet-born TV... -

Release Promo - Temporary free access to the Nurburgring track!

Please be advised that upon the addition of the Nordschleife & 24h layouts, all Nurburgring versions will revert to being available only for owners of the DLC or packages that include it.

Automobilista 2 May 2021 Development Update
Greetings everyone! We hope you all are doing well and staying safe as we continue to go through what hopefully will turn out to be the final months of this terrible ordeal that has been the COVID pandemic. As with most people, the pandemic by now has hit close to home, with two of our lead devs having struggled through it in recent weeks (luckily with no serious consequences).
This obviously has had an impact and slowed some of our progress, but not stopped it - on the contrary in fact as we continue to gear up to our biggest release yet. It has however contributed to a small change of plans as we are still working on the final details of this update, which is now scheduled to be deployed on Friday June 4th along with Part 1 of the Racin USA Expansion Pack - a few extra days then to ensure we have all elements of a truly massive update firing on all cylinders from the get-go!
Often in these dev updates I´ll refer to the fact that as much we might... -
Automobilista 2 April 2022 Development Update
Greetings Everyone - we are happy to finally be back with our first Development Update of 2022!
To begin with I´d like to apologize for not providing these updates in the early months of the year - for a variety of reasons these have been challenging times during which I´ve been personally less involved with the development of AMS2 than usual, and by extension less engaged with the community to provide you all with the level of information you have been used to.
So let´s try make up for some of that and bring you up to date with what´s going with Reiza and the development of AMS2!
Housekeeping!
Just a couple of days ago on March 31st we completed two years since the initial Early Access release of Automobilista 2 on Steam - in this time we made some big strides with the game and while we are proud of the pace of development, the number of improvements and new content we´ve introduced to the sim over this time, we know... -

Automobilista 2 November 2021 Development Update Part 2
Greetings everyone!
Part 2 of our November Development Update has finally arrived with some fresh good news for Automobilista 2 in our final development sprint of 2021!
And what a run of weeks it has been so far - not only have we managed to hit some of the important developments we had planned for the month, we also managed to find and are in process of resolving some other significant issues along the way - in fact our plan had been to publish this article already with our first big game update of November, however spotting a rather sizeable physics issue just a few hours before the update was meant to be deployed has forced us back to the drawing board for a few more days - the new Automobilista V1.3 update is expected to arrive towards the end of this week.
On the plus side, V1.3 will now pack even further value to what is already a landmark update for AMS2 - so let´s get into some of what we have been working on these past few weeks!... -
Automobilista 2 June 2021 Development Update
Greetings everyone!
The month of June already is in the rear view mirror, and what a month it was - first with the release of V1.2 and the Racin´ USA DLC (which we were thrilled to see so widely well received), followed by a hard push towards bug hunting and further improvements in the subsequent weeks.
In fact this slightly delayed Dev Update is largely because we are still at it, working on a new complementary update due out this weekend - and given we´ve been pushing out complementary updates over the last couple of weeks to get some outstanding issues fixed ASAP, there won´t be the usual big update this time but rather another smaller collection of fixes & improvements to wrap up this dev cycle.
Our focus continues to be on complementing the work on the new features and fixing issues that have come up since V1.2, as well as some older issues which we had been struggling for a while to track down - to this end it´s very important that users... -
Automobilista 2 V1.0.1.0 & Hockenheimring Pack RELEASED - Now updated to v1.0.1.2
Host of the German GP 37 times, the Hockenheimring is one of the tracks with the richest heritage in the world of motorsports. Historically known for its bygone classic layout with long straights through the surrounding forests, the track was reformed for the 2002 German GP, becoming much shorter modern circuit but retaining a high speed, flowing nature perfectly suited for wheel-to-wheel racing with all types of cars.
This pack features 4 distinct versions of this legendary track from 4 different decades - 1977, 1988, 2001 and 2020, along with extra modern layouts (National, Short A & B).
This the first DLC to be released for Automobilista 2, and it is FREE to all current AMS2 owners and for those who purchase AMS2 over the weekend (July 24-25-26 2020) - by July 27th the Hockenheimring Pack will be sold as an independent DLC to AMS2, and also as part of the 2020-2021 Season Pass.
For those who have already purchased the... -
Automobilista 2 June Development Update - It´s Official Release Time!
Greetings everyone! Slightly early development update this month to bring you all some exciting news!
In last month´s development update we estimated AMS2 to come out of Early Access some time in mid June - as it turned out we ended up stretching that a bit further, but we can finally confirm Automobilista 2 will be officially released at some point tomorrow, June 30th!
Since the last Early Access update we have continued to push hard these last couple of weeks to ensure v1.0 is a big jump from the latest v0.9.7.0, and that I think we have achieved - v1.0 packs a ton of new content, several key developments in all areas of the game, as well as the new championship mode (albeit limited for this first release).
We are happy to say we have also fulfilled the majority of the goals we had set out to achieve during Early Access, and the little bits that are still due should not take much longer. The official release of course does not mean the game is done -... -
Automobilista 2 December 2021 Development Update
Greetings everyone!
It´s now New Year´s eve - or maybe even already the New Year depending on where you are in the world! It´s been a busy month on a personal level in and out of Reiza to cap what has been another very busy year, but we couldn´t let it end without a proper send-off and some important updates to all of you!
Automobilista 2 in 2021 - A Great Year!
What a year it has been for our team & AMS2 - 12 new tracks, 22 new cars, and a long list of new features & improvements have been delivered to the game over the course of the year, developments which we can all agree brought the game to another level relative to where we started 2021.
From the very first announcement, we´ve always maintained that AMS2 was a long-term project which would evolve considerably over the years, but even for ourselves plans are only reality after they have been successfully executed - although there´s been some stumbles along the way... -
Automobilista 2 September 2021 Development Update
Greetings everyone!
Glad to be back to bring you a new Development Update following a short hiatus last month as we took some time to catch our breath. We are already into September which means this Dev Update itself has run a bit late as we had to wait a bit for greenlight on some upcoming bits, so we are taking the opportunity to change things around a bit and name the Update with the upcoming month rather than the one that just ended
With that house-keeping out of the way, let´s get into what is important - here is an overview of what we have been working in recent weeks and what we have coming up next.
Latest Progress
As of the latest build, Real Weather now also include local environment temperatures - gone is the old overly generic built-in lookup tables, in is accurate for any location in the game, currently and for any date going back to January 1st 1979. The game now also packs the data from days... -
Automobilista 2 May 2020 Development Update
Hello everyone! We´ve reached the end of another month in 2020, which of course means it´s time for our monthly development roundup. We have a lot of ground to cover this month so let´s get to it:
Automobilista 2 v1.0 Coming Up in June
The Early Access period ended up stretching a bit from our original estimate of 8 weeks, but AMS2 EA is finally set to wrap with little over 10 weeks as we gear up for official release sometime in mid-June. We´re happy to say that we´re on track to meet all the core targets we outlined for v1.0 release, even if some of the developments haven´t quite made into the game yet.
Car animations are now finally in process of being exported to the game, and expect to have all the most important ones for wipers, drivers and suspension parts include by v1.0 release.... -
Automobilista 2 July 2020 Development Update
Greetings Everyone! Here we go for another Development Update... And there is a lot to cover!
We are now one month into Automobilista 2´s release and we can´t overstate what a meaningful milestone this has been for Reiza. Those who have been following us will have an idea about the bumps we have had on this road, including a sort of game engine limbo until the opportunity to work with Slightly Mad Studios and use their Madness engine came along.
From the moment we got our hands on this engine in October 2018 until release day in June 2020 there was just 20 months to do everything - learn a new engine, get a grasp on their tools, figuring out new graphics, audio, physics and UI pipelines, develop the skills and hire people to work on stuff we previously had no experience in - and then go about the business of building a game with over 50 tracks and cars!
While the release has been important, we can´t argue it´s been flawless - the game still has rough... -
Automobilista 2 November 2020 Development Update
Greetings everyone! Happy to be here again with our usual monthly catchup to bring you all up to date on the latest developments to Automobilista 2 - November has been another productive busy month, we have in fact run the clock all the way, having just wrapped our latest hotfix to Automobilista 2 (now up to v1.0.6.1), contibuting to this slightly delayed dev update
So it´s already December, and just like that 2020 has come and gone - firstly, we´d like to send our best wishes to everyone struggling to one degree or another through the latest wave of the pandemic - we hope you all are managing to stay safe as we approach what should hopefully be the final months of the ordeal we have collectively been through this year. All signs point to vaccines becoming available in the coming months so let´s all do our best to keep our heads down until we´re through to the other side!
If there is any plus side to our extended indoor routines is hopefully a bit...
