How come you can change individual gear ratios but not the final drive ratio? Seems to be the case for most cars?
It does depend on the car, I can confirm you can change it in Super V8 and Formula Trainer (others too but those are the first to come to mind) I have also noticed that sometimes there is a bug where you need to click at least twice to get it to change. Try clicking a couple of times. Which cars specifically are you trying? Some cars/series have a fixed final drive but can vary the individual gears, and vice-versa
Brazilian Stock Cars, Omega stock car, Carrera Cup Porsche, I find it strange that you can change individual ratios but not the final drive? On some shorter tracks you don't even get into top gear, trying to reduce each ratio evenly is very vague, that's the reason for the final drive ratio. I think it's a bug and doesn't seem right to me. If a series has fixed gearing, then it has fixed gearing!
Just checked both Porsches, Omega, and the 2024 Stock Cars. They all have a fixed gear set, meaning final drive and all 5 or 6 gear ratios are the same. This is actually to your benefit because it means you don't need to adjust gear ratios for each track individually. Every other car will be using the same gear set. This isn't a bug, this will be mimicking reality. In fact, you can see the Carrera Cup technical rules here which outline the gear ratios to be used: https://www.imsa.com/wp-content/upl...24-Technical-Regulations-REDLINE-03012024.pdf (page 15)
I'm guessing the game is set up so each car has a fixed number of gear ratios, and nothing to stop you being able to switch them even if the number of ratios matches the actual number of gears. But if your gears are limited to for example 3, 2.6, 2.4, 1.8, 1.4 and 1.1, those will be the only options available when you try to change the gear ratios, as is the case with the cars I checked. Conversely, because there is only one available final drive ratio, you can't choose other options because they're not options for the car. This would be easy enough (I'm sure) to fix in code - if the number of gear ratios == the number of gears on the car, then disallow changing the gear ratios.
