Gear ratios for classic touring/stock cars are too short for Bathurst, AI seems unaffected.

I really love the classic Bathurst layout, but I can't find a single historical touring car that can actually cope with Conrod straight, they all hit the red line well before the end of the straight, and there's no way to extend the gearing any further than I already have. Weirdly the AI seem unaffected and easily pass me/pull away on the straight. I've tried the Hot Cars, the 1979 and 1986 Opala stock cars, and both the classic Corvette's, even with a fully extended final drive, they cannot hit their top speed on Conrod straight, never being able to go beyond 210-230km/h. Is this by design? Did these cars have very short fixed ratios in real life? It's very frustrating as there aren't a whole lot of appropriate cars for old Bathurst to begin with, I know most of these cars never raced there, but they're the closest we have to ATCC cars of that era.

Have you extended each gear too?

There is a bug for final drives of some cars that always forces the short gearing - a bugfix will come with the next patch, hopefully rectifying this issue!

Yep this seems like the cause of the issue, I had another go with the 1986 Opala Stock Car and no matter what I set the gear ratio to, it remained on the lowest settings. I noticed that the issue seems to affect all cars that have a 4-speed transmission, hope that helps.

Reverting to the previous build via the betas menu on steam seems to fix the issue, obviously at the cost of the latest updates and improvements elsewhere, but it's a nice temporary solution.

Issue already identified and fixed in beta :)
It is related to a car having 2 final ratios making them always forcing the shorter one.
