Hey guys and gals, new thread, something a bit different.

How much sim / gaming time do you get each week?

I will start. Until recently I generally got about 2 hours on a Friday and Saturday night and around 1 hour on a Sunday night. This is after junior and the missus go to bed. Usually simming between about 9.30 to 11.30 those nights.

I am too stuffed to do any on a week night by the time I sit down to relax it is about 9.30 and I don't have the mojo to sim or game so usually just watch a movie on Netflix or something I recorded on Foxtel.

Sometimes during the school holidays I will sneak an hour here and there during the week but that is about all.

Recently with the little savage staying up a bit later my Friday and Saturday simming has diminished to about an hour or 1.5 hours at the most.

Curious to know about your simming habits.

    I can feel with you!

For me it is exactly the same. Usually i can sim when my two ladys are in bed.
And most of the time, i am just too tired to be in any way competitive.
Even to make a good setup for a race in the future i am too tired.

So sometimes i fill my throat with a lot of coffee to be able to sim for a few hours.
Sometimes i just play something else, where i don´t need to be focused that much.

Long story short, too less time to follow my passion ;-)

Usually I play for around 1hr every night on week days, on weekends I play more if I'm home, but it also depends on how many real life races are happening on that weekend.

I said to myself: I want 2 hours daily. Why? Back in days when I was in my 10's and 20's;, still fruitful & young, I used to game for hours and hours due my Asperger. In 2015 I disliked normie gaming more and more, and tried Dirt Rally 1... I was sold. I ditched my DFGT for a used G27. I think it was May or June. I would race for 5 or 6 hours per day.. Yes per day... Perhaps even more... and I was the first one to reach 1000 hours and 100% achievements in the early December. Even got an Award by Paul Coleman.

Then the next years until the end of 2017 I would race for hours. Dirt 4, AC, Raceroom, RBR, AMS 1, and many more racing sims. My weight increased. I took my cats for granted, and I was heavily invested in Dirt Rally 1 due my 5-star workshop with 109+ setups. Here and there people began to use my replies in the steam and Codemasters forum for their articles and youtube-clips.

So at the end of 2017 I got a quarter-life crisis, I think. I sold everything. My whole setup. I was also kinda fed up with the constant flex of the Omega Supreme. 80/20 rigs weren't still a thing around that era. So yeah. I went back to normie gaming; Train Simulation, COD WWII, Diablo 2, Football Manager. In 2018 one my cats died and I went into achievement hunting. I completed 145 games, like Chrono Trigger, Half Life 2, and countless 0.50-2 euro games. But it didn't really satisfy me.

Then exactly one year later one of my other cats also died. I was full of grief, and had no idea what to do. My mom pushed me into buying another cat a half year ago, and we weren't a real good match. So... I bought a full used T300 setup for the release of Dirt Rally 2. I played it for a month or two. It was so broken, so full of missing features and even the FFB was hopeless.. I bought a used Oculus. It was amazing. rFactor 2 and Ultra Chess.. I was totally in a different world.

So after two months I sold the T300 and the Oculus. I don't remember much the next few months cause I quit whiskey, and probably due the grief I had days I didn't slept for 60 hours. Anyway. Around May or June I bought a used Fanatec Carbon Black. I had a plan. Then in August I bought a Simlab GT1-Evo. Slowly, but sure, I bought literally everything back. Used, but in great condition. I began playing rF2 mainly on Sebring. Lap after lap. Meanwhile AMS 1 caught my attention. I never played it much during my first era, but I liked it. I began playing AMS 1 more and more. On the forum I had some fights with Marc, hehe. Also had a little trip with iRacing in December. In the early 2020 AMS 2 was being released...

Forward it two years later. I still don't like normie gaming. I do play Diablo 2: LoD and Football Manager so and then out of boredom or because other games doesn't interest me anymore. I made great online friends on Reiza Forum, in the MP lobbies, at Reiza and the internals. So why the 2 hours per day? I think simulated racing is one of the best hobbies a man can have. It's the adrenaline, the people, the FFB, the physics, the constant fighting with my tinnitus and how to cope with boredom and loneliness..Also I started to workout, taking care of myself. Life is getting better after some years of grief and such.. Oh and ofcourse to give my expensive rig the love it needs.

    Thank you for reading,
    Marius. Always yours <3

ps. I got a girlfriend in my meantime, hehe.

I don't do single player anmore, and since all my gaming friends, including me, have families by now, there is not much time where at least 2 of us have undisturbed leisure time at the same point in time.

You can't seriously do any interesting racing session with your kids on your lap.

I guess thats also the reason why anything longer that the usual 6 Lap race on a short track is rather unpopular.

True, and it's even more difficult to do any racing with a dog on your lap: :)

If you have a good family..wife,kids , parents ect, they should encourage you with your hobbies they should be begging you to race so they can watch and cheer you on !You should not have to wait till they gone to bed to sneek a race

I have a job that requires me to travel a lot around the world so I only play when Im at home. Which is about 4 months a year.
The good part is that when Im home I dont work at all and Ive trained my girlfriend well.

So I can pretty much race whenever I want.

    Not enough :p

I’d say 4 hours per week, mostly on weekends.

Similar to me then. From the way some people talk in the forum was expecting some of the hours to be higher.

I play mostly only during the weekend a few hours. During the week I simply do not have time and after work and all the daily things, I go out for a 8km walk every day. When I return I do not feel the need to sit in my man cave and start gaming. As said, only during the weekend. And often I do not have the time as well because I make my own bread and pastries which takes up a lot of time of course. :D (I’m a fully educated pastry chef but ditched that life after 15years, still a big hobby so to speak)

The aim is to have a good hour on Monday and Wednesday.
Then in the weekends it depends whether my daughter is with me. If she is, I hope to get another hour or 2. If she isn't the aim is to get 4-5 hours behind the wheel.

But... That is the aim. When I fall asleep on the couch on Monday, clearly I'm not getting my one hour behind the wheel.

And just came back after about four months due to a torn meniscus where my knee just didn't want to heal after surgery.
Feels so good to be back.

Just a nice story about immersion:
I did a practice of about 45 minutes, after the checkered flag fell I went back into the pits. The moment I got back into the pits I rested my left arm onto the arm rest in the door(that is present in my RL car).... If course, as my sim rig doesn't have an arm rest, it fell, giving my body a jank. Sat there laughing for a couple of minutes, did the quali and race and got out of my rig a happy man :)

If that is what your hobby does for you you know it is a good hobby to have:cool:
