I just tried Bass Shakers on my humble rig for the first time.

Hey there folks, i have unsuccessfully been trying to find info on how many amps i can run off a PC soundcard but can't find anything. I currently have 2 amps, do you know if you can connect more than two? Cheers.

In order to clarify my own setup so this will hopefully help people here


I have 2 nobsound stereo amps. you have 3 ways of connecting source, bluetooth, 3.5mm jack and USB.
I use USB so they appear like this in Windows sound settings, as "speakers" but they are obviously the amps driving the bass shakers

the pink highlighted Realtek audio is the drive of my actual Sound speakers and I have a 5.1 system connected to the MB jacks so I could not use it for the Nobsound anyway




In Simhub, they are showing up as such "USB speakers" as they are in Windows

the picture below shows how I am setting one Nobsound and pair of shakers, and this exact same principle is replicated to the 2 other Nobsound / 4 bass shakers that are fitted on my Rig

 

Is it a 5.1 sound card? If so, you have 6 channels available so you could run up to 6 shakers from three stereo amps.
I only use 4 shakers so for simplicity I used a four channel amp - Douk Audio M4. Works perfectly with the little Dayton pucks.

 

Can't recall if 5.1 or 7.1, will have to check that out. Good to know about potentially 6 channels.

 

The sheer number of ways to gobble up USB slots is incredible in sim racing.

1. Wheelbase
2. Pedals
3. Shifter
4. VR headset
5. wireless keyboard/mouse combo for sim rig
6. Button Box
7. Bass shakers

I know guys run additional HUDs, and multiple shifters, and I'm using a combination keyboard/touchpad which puts two USB devices in one, which is a big help. But I just dont see how everyone has so many usb slots. I've seen PCIe USB cards, but they all seem to have very mixed reviews about whether they will work or not.

I have 9 slots... I think I can bypass one of the USB ports on my case with a dual USB rear panel plate, so I can get up to 10 without add ons... never thought I would ever see a need for it... but here we are.

Isn't it best to only use for things you dont have to use at the same time, though?

 

I have my mouse, keyboard, button box and headset plugged into the powered usb. Things like my wheel and pedals are plugged directly to the pc. I use the hub for "unimportant" things to help keep from a wiring nightmare

 

I have been using one for years for my wheelbase, button boxes and pedals and never had any problems.

 

Would such device not induce latency to an extent?

 

I am not 100 percent sure so that is why I use it for keyboards and such.

Im currently using a jetrace gameseat for my extra immersion, but thinking of setting up a shaker system.
Could someone confirm how many amplifiers and USB sound cards I would need to run 4 transducers?
Im getting a bit confused after trawling the web...

 

Depends how many channels you have on your amp / s or whether you run them in parallel.
I have one sound card that I am running two two channel amps off, one shaker for each corner

 

Nobsound stereo amp one by pair of shakers is what I use
25bucks each small and no problem after 2yrs of use through USB ports

driving the shakers through simhub and welcome to proper tactile world

ps I had a jetrace before but honestly shakers are two steps above
