I was thinking that I wanted to try to run a 24 hour race at Spa. Of course there is no way I'm going to sit for 24 hours, so I was thinking that I would start the race, and when I am ready for a break, pit and let the AI take over. Now, here is my question. If I set the default pit strategy to repair all, change tires, and fill with fuel, and AFTER the AI takes over my car, I set the "change driver" to OFF... will the AI come in automatically when he runs low on fuel? Basically I'm asking if I can just go sleep for a few hours and let the AI drive my car lol.. then come back and take over. Anyone know if this will work? If not I will test it haha.
I want to report that this strategy works great! Reiza, you guys are brilliant! So I set up a pit stop strategy and called it "test AI". I set it to change all tires and repair all damage, and to add just a few litres of fuel. Then I started a race with a few litres of fuel (just enough for about 2-3 laps) and I came around after a lap or two and pitted. I let the AI driver take over at this point. Once the AI was on the track, I verified that "Swap driver" was OFF.. I made sure that I checked this "test AI" pit strategy was selected. So from this point on, the AI driver went a few laps until fuel was low, came in for tires and fuel (they only gave him a few litres lol), went back out, raced a few more laps, came back in, etc.. etc..and continued the race like this until I exited. Knowing this, I can set up a real 24 hour race. I'll play for a while, turn it over to the AI (for me this will simulate me resting while my teammates each take a turn at driving), then go to bed for a few hours, come back, and drive again.. Not sure why I'm obsessed with this feature but it really adds some realism because I don't have to accelerate tire wear or fuel usage, which always seems to mess things up for me. I also like to see time pass realistically, given the fact that weather can change by the hour. Heck I can even start the race exactly when the real 24 hour race starts and stay synchronized with real weather updates! Now I only hope my computer can continue to play this game for a full 24 hours without Windows doing some weird update lol! Thanks again Reiza! is the ai driver faster /slower/on the same level as the rest of the ai? I've tried this at Spa with the GT3 cars and had ai speed on 96 and aggr on 50. My ai driver was 4 seconds of the pace with the leading ai. So has a lot of catching up to do when i took over again.
I'm guessing maybe it's just random, because the first time I did it, my AI driver was a little faster than me, and we were both about the same as the AI. The second time he was a bit timid and didn't seem to want to pass anyone lol, so I don't know if it was a different rating or just the luck... I had put him a lap down and maybe continued to get blue flags .. My default AI is set to 90 and aggression 100. I'm not sure what ratings are given to the team AI driver. Perhaps someone from Reiza can answer.
I used to do this in GTR2. I would pick one of the better drivers and copy his/her stats into (whichever) driver was assigned as my #2 in the car I was driving.
