Hi, Title say it all. I really only race mp and do some tt. In my experience it’s porche,Audi, mclaren, bmw, and bringing up the rear, merc. I’ve always driven the merc. Now I’ve no chance against them driving skills being equal. Take a look at the leader boards in tt.....3 or 4 pages before you get to the first merc. Is that how it is in reality? I looked on google and it seemed the merc is much more competitive than in ams2, Now, I don’t really follow modern motor sports so I don’t know how they bop things in real life. I come from the old days of gt racing . Like old trans am, or basically gt legends type of stuff. Get off my lawn Cheetahs, chaperals, that 427 side oiler galaxies at good wood. THAT gives me a racing boner Is my hypothesis correct? And if so....Can you pls adjust this situation Reiza ? Thank you
Just a tip, try also selecting the "specific car" (not car class) option in the TT leaderboards, you might get faster time for the car model in question compared to what is the best time on the car class specific board. A driver can have only you fastest time on each board, so on the "class specific", you have the one for the car you had the fastest time, but it doesn't mean you might not have almost as good times with other cars in the same class. To have real idea of the differences, check the times for each car from the non-car class specific boards and compare (they usually are a lot closer).
Hi, Thx GFoyle. I'll try that. But are you saying at all that the performance between these cars reflect real life? Frankly, I don't like driving porches....and mid engine cars aren't my fav. I love front engine,RWD v8s. But I know the world doesn't revolve around me and I just want to be competitive and not start out of the gate with an unrealistic disadvantage. Thx for your response GFoyle
I tend to feel like the Merc suffers from high gearing , it just doesn’t accelerate as quickly out of corners as its competitors.
Merc has the advantage it's quicker around the corners, but loses on the straight. They massacred, my boy. Jk. But it feels very rewarding to win or being in front with the Merc. I know there's a guy, I thin he's one of the developers of LFM, which is outstanding fast with the Merc on any track.
Hey lugnut, BoP is not a static measure in real life racing. BoP is constantly changing between races. Officials take so many variable data in determining the BoP for each race, like previous race performance data of each car, the tracks elevation level, etc etc, so it's constantly changing from race to race in real life. I can't even begin to imagine how hard it would be for the devs of any racing game to get the BoP perfect for each track and racing series, especially taking in to account forced induction engines and naturally aspirated engines. I'd almost dare say it's impossible to get the BoP perfect in any racing Sim. You'll always get certain tracks that some cars dominate on, but then other tracks the other cars will be faster on.
Hi, Interesting they bop every race. My thing is I love the merc. I don't mind being a hair slower but man. So, sorted by model in brands hatch TT, there is a faster merc time than mine, but then they grabbed another gt3 and beat their time by + 1 sec. Does anyone know if the merc is a dog in other sims? Thx for the responses.
It's not just a matter of one car being the best out of all of them. Each driver has a preference to how cars handle. Once they drive a car that leans more in the direction of the way the driver likes a car to handle, the quicker they will be on the track. Some people feel more comfortable with front engine rear wheel drive cars and feel that the handling characteristics of this layout feel more comfortable and easier to drive so they feel safer pushing it to its limits. That same person can hop into a rear or mid engine car like the C8 Corvette and have slower lap times because they don't find the handling characteristics of mid engine cars to feel comfortable or to suit their style of driving, so they don't take as many risks and push as hard, or they simple don't understand how to take advantage of the mid engine layout with its chassis balance. I can safely say that if those 'alien' drivers who are getting the fastest lap time in a certain car on a certain track, put the time and effort into learning another car like the Mercedes, they would be getting times very very close and maybe even faster. What's more important when learning this sport is to not look at which cars people are using to get the fastest lap times, but to spend time with every single car and find the one that you feel most comfortable driving. The one that feels natural to you, and can feel you can start pushing it's limits. Once you get to the top level in competitive Sim racing, it won't matter which car you choose, any car can be a winner. It's more about how you manage your stress levels in a race, your strategy throughout, how consisten you are, and hope you don't overdrive and start wearing things out like brakes, engine, trans and getting a mechanical failure in a race.
Kunos could not do that on a dedicated game to the serie, this will never happen here. Just play whatever car you feel the fastest in and accept that you won't hold a R8 behind you on straights, just wait for them to crash in corners once their tyre overheat or the game decide to give them a random spin.
Hi, Shadow, lately I've seen those random spins. Luckily I found a merc setup that while not the fastest,,has way reduced the random spin. if the race goes to 7 -10 laps I'll be following somebody and I see them spin...like they were hit with the hand of God Esp at a track like Spielberg. Regarding say, holding off r8 down straight...is that true in RL? Thx Hi, Thx for all your responses. I've found my answer and gt3 class currentky in ams2 is not a reflect tion of RL. I went to the blanc pain website and looked up the results qual,race,etc...for like the last 3-4 years just at Brands Hatch...where the merc should have advantage according to common knowledge. Mercs were basicly dominating and Porsche barely cracked top 10 in qual . So my op has been answered for me. Using the merc while fun is hard mode. Porsche is easy mode joke. Oh for anybody who doesnt think so, numbers don't lie PS can I get my old blue and black merc skin back? Thanks
Honestly the only problem I have with the whole conversation (and this is something that trips a lot of folks up) is that BoP is different in different series which is why it's hard to determine what is "realistic" for GT3. Even from week-to-week in the same series the BoP can be different. IMSA doesn't have the same BoP as Blancpain (which is now called the GT World Challenge btw) which doesn't have the same BoP as British GT. Infact this past year at Brands Hatch in British GT the McLaren won Pre-Quali and Quali 2 while the Lambo won Quali 1. So how realistic AMS 2's (or any sim's) BoP is largely depends in the series you compare it to. The only real solution is Reiza allowing users to control the BoP, and that's something I really hope us users will be able to do
Hi, Understood its a moving target. I used to race on a German gtr2 site. They had like a zillion mods. And there was for ex, gt2 class. Now they diddnt try to emulate RL so much, but to make cars in a class competitive in mp. In gt2 they had a skyline with some kind of f1 motor in it. And they had an Audi r8 orvsomethin. The most fun I've ever had is running that loctite skyline...gobs of power handling meh ....racing a top simmer in the r8 at road America. 2 different ways to a similar lap time. But someone curated these mods to be balanced in general to each other. At Monza I'd kill the r8...at brands I had my hands full I just want competitive mp. And not be forced to drive cars that bore me. IMHO.
There is no random spins. just drivers that enter turns too fast and try to run Lower Wing to gain straight line speed . the same drivers will likely complain that the cars are too slidey…. which just goes to show it’s the driver that is allowing it to be sliding and paying the price with going past the grip level. 7-10 laps is barely a qualifying session let alone a race where tyre management is actually important.
