Max Framerate Cap Would Be Transformative!

In the last week i've discovered the miracle of frame generation; i've now gone through all of my driving sims and set a max framerate of 30 Hz, allowing my humble 1080 Ti to pretty much max out the graphics quality in all these titles. I then use an app called Lossless Scaling to generate one extra frame in-between each of the rendered frames, bumping the combined video stream back up to a neatly v-synced 60 FPS. This works brilliantly well, not least in AMS1 - no glitching or artifacts, just silky-smooth 4K eye candy; max textures, max shadows, max reflections, 8x MSAA, 16x anisotropic.. basically almost doubling the useful work my graphics card can deliver. Honestly, i can't recommend this trick highly enough - how often do you get such an upgrade for practically free like this?

As you'll have anticipated however, the last, most recent game i tried this on is AMS2, only to find there's no option for capping framerates in the config! Halving the refresh rate in video settings only applies to full-screen mode, but Lossless Scaling only works its magic on windowed or borderless games..

Don't get me wrong, the game looks and runs beautifully as-is, however i'm now stuck with this nagging resentment that, but for this minor omission, i could be switching up from 'medium' settings to 'high' with no framerate penalty..

It's a little counter-intuitive, but amending this seemingly superfluous constraining factor into the config options, paradoxically, would allow the game to likewise exploit the benefits of the latest frame-gen techniques, massively boosting the efficiency of the graphics processing pipeline and delivering ultimate visual quality. Because FFB rates are no longer tied to FPS in modern sims, there's zero hit to latency or responsiveness, it's literally something for nothing, and works so seamlessly-well that i can't see any reason for it not to be adopted natively in all games, no third-party apps required. In principal it may be feasible to push the ratio of rendered to generated frames beyond 1:1 - i've yet to experiment much in seeing how far it'll go before glitches start becoming noticeable, but a 1:2 or perhaps 1:3 ratio might even be viable, virtually tripling or quadrupling GPU coefficients of performance in terms of useful work to heat dissipated..

Devs could ultimately combine framerate capping and frame generation under the hood, but in the meantime, if a simple framerate cap were slipped into the next update, users could immediately start benefitting from it in conjunction with third-party or driver-level frame-gen utilities?

You can set Fps cap in AMS2 using Steam launch command in Steam AMS2 properties .
I just can’t remember the exact command .
it might be -fps30 or -fpscap 30 in your wish case .
someone will know for sure soon enough.

search function on old conversations suggests it is the latter option , and there needs to be the space between letters and numbers

    -fpscap 30 will work.
If you have NVIDIA, you can also cap it there (but I'm not sure the effect of using another app in-between).
