Hi guys been having this trouble since day 1 of release decided to post now as i am doing multi player and running up peoples backsides The problem is when i down shift sometimes it does not ,and i run into the back of someone or go off track i have tried the minimum shift time adjustment ,also deleting the documents folder but it still happens ,and only in this sim My wheel is an osw with a fanatec rim connected via the bodnar board i have also tried auto clutch on and off and my shifts are well timed with the revs ,i have no problems with h shifting cheers for any help
Cars have downshift protection so that if your wheel speed is so fast that the engine would over rev in the lower gear, the gear cannot be selected. You shouldn't be relying on downshifts to avoid ramming people up the backside (ooh missus!). Try the brakes first, then downshift.
no no its not that it does it at low revs too just totally misses the gear i actually blip the throttle to help cheers for the reply anyway
For sequential shifted cars, that feature autoblip (like GT3/4/E, Stock Car Brasil etc.) you musn't blip manually or the downshift protection will also trigger, because of a rev difference that doesn't fit the already applied automatic blip. GT1 or SuperV8 for example actually require manual blipping though.
i would actually agree that sometimes it’ refuses to downshift. it seems quite random as to which cars won’t downshift . i’ve had this with various cars , but just put down to some specific safety mechanisms per car. But sometimes i do wonder if it’s my wheel ( it’s not) or just a bug .
cheers mate i thought that may help with the blip , but the problem is still there either way it happens if i dont blip either and its random like kuku said
fixed i cheers fixed i dont do the gt3s much offline so not much practice ,but because everyone likes them online i join in ,my problem was using the clutch to down shift ,now i just slam the brakes on and no mis -shifts cheers for replies all
Sorry for bringing up an old topic again but someone who watches my videos on YouTube has just said that throttle blip isn't required in AMS 2. I checked his statement and as far as I can tell it isn't necessary with the BMW M1, the Group A cars and with the Formula Retro. Is that as it should be? I have to check GT1 and SuperV8 though ... All aids are disabled, manual clutch is chosen in gameplay options and in control options both.
The blip isn’t necessary if you want to downshift. The blip is necessary if you want to quickly downshift though. When you downshift and let go of the clutch, the engine is going to have to rev up to catch up to the wheel and transmission speed. If you blip beforehand you already raised your revs and the clutch will be able to grip much quicker. Some cars like the SuperV8 have a lot of power and no autoblip on downshift so if you don’t blip and let go of the clutch too quickly, you’re more often than not locking your wheels (well actually severely lowering the wheel rotation because your lower rpm engine forced the wheels to slow down, thus breaking traction) and, especially approaching turns, you’ll spin yourself out.
Also if you want to downshift clutchless, you definetly need to blip for cars like F-Retro... GT1 and SuperV8 like already stated will also apply the gear without blips, but you risk shift locks and this will feel like applying a handbrake shortly. For H-Shifters, no blipping can actually wear out your clutch and also gearbox, btw. if done aggressively all the time. Too aggressive blips with badly timed clutch usage can also wear out the clutch actually.
Thanks for your replies. With the GT1 and SuperV8 class shift locks are clearly noticable. I'd thought that it would also be necessary to rev match in cars like the BMW M1 and the Group A cars - especially to prevent locking up the wheels.
