@Spooky1611 raised the point in the game update thread that some there are some tracks he doesn't use with the modern F1 car just because there aren't any DRS zones. I think he's got a point, and that some tracks in AMS2 could use some DRS. The only reason some haven't is that F1 hasn't yet raced there - but with some tracks, it's obvious it could happen and therefore, a DRS sign wouldn't feel ouf of place. Because of that, I made a list of all tracks. It's divided by six tiers. A tier means that the track already has DRS. B tier means that it should have DRS because it would fit perfectly. C tier means that adding DRS would be a good choice, because even though F1 would probably never race there because of safety concerns (unsuited runoff) or lacking specators, it could have a good race. D tier means that the track is probably unsuited for F1, but provides opportunities for DRS zones that might be used by junior categories. E tier means that the track could possibly have DRS, but is probably unsuited for its implementation. F tier means that, in my opinion, on this track there should not ever be a DRS zone. But what do you think? Should Reiza add DRS on more tracks so they become a better option for the modern F1 cars? Which tracks do you feel would be suited for that? This would be my list, using the aforementioned tiers: A tier: Spoiler "Monaco" Hockenheim Imola Interlagos "Suzuka" Montreal Monza Nurburgring GP Spa-Francorchamps Spielberg B Tier: "Estoril" (DRS on parts of Start/Finish and after T4) Jerez (DRS on Start-Finish and after T5) Kyalami (DRS on Start-Finish) C Tier: Brasilia (DRS after T1, after T2 and on Start/Finish) Curitiba (DRS on parts of Start Finish and after T3) Donington GP (DRS before and after chicane and on Start/Finish) Galeao (DRS on Start/Finish and before the chicane (other straight too long)) Goiania (DRS on parts of Start/Finish and after T1) Guapore (DRS on Start/Finish) Laguna Seca (DRS on Start-Finish) Londrina Short (DRS on Start/Finish) Long Beach (DRS on Start-Finish and after T8) Road America (DRS on parts of Start/Finish and after T2 (part of straight)) Velo Citta (DRS on Start-Finish and after T7) Virginia Raceway GP (DRS on parts of Start-Finish and after Oak Tree (parts of straight) Watkins Glen (DRS on Start-Finish and after T4) D Tier: Campo Grande (DRS on Start/Finish) Curvelo (DRS on Start/Finish and after T3) Santa Cruz (DRS on Start/Finish and after T6) Snetterton 300 (DRS after T3 and T7) Velopark (DRS on Start-Finish and on the back straight) E Tier: Adelaide (only suitable fast section is Start/Finish, but after that is a one line chicane) Bathurst (very narrow, could be implemented on both long straights though) Brands Hatch (Not a straight where it makes a real difference II DRS on Start/Finish) Cascavel (Not a suitable straight where it makes a real difference II DRS after "Esse" and "Sete") Cleveland (Hasn't been in use since DRS exists II DRS on Start/Finish, after T1 and after T8) Daytona Road (straights are very long anyway and doesn't feel like an F1 circuit, especially concerning the chicane II DRS after T7) Jacarepagua 2005 (Not period accurate II DRS on Start-Finish and after T5) Oulton Park (no suitable straight where it makes a real difference and very narrow track) F Tier: Adelaide 1988 (would disrupt historic feeling) Cadwell Park (too narrow) Hockenheim 2001 (would disrupt historic feeling) Hockenheim 1988 (would disrupt historic feeling) Hockenheim 1977 (would disrupt historic feeling) Yahuacocha (only suitable fast section has too sharp corners in it) Imola 2001 (would disrupt historic feeling) Imola 1988 (would disrupt historic feeling) Imola 1972 (would disrupt historic feeling) Interlagos 1976 (would disrupt historic feeling) Jacarepagua 1988 (would disrupt historic feeling) Kyalami 1976 (would disrupt historic feeling) Londrina Long (both suitable straights have too quick corners after them) Montreal 1988 (would disrupt historic feeling) Monza 1991 (would disrupt historic feeling) Monza 1971 (would disrupt historic feeling) Nordschleife (too narrow track, only suitable straight is too long) Salvador (no suitable straight) Silverstone 2001 (would disrupt historic feeling) Silverstone 1991 (would disrupt historic feeling) Silverstone 1975 (would disrupt historic feeling) Spa-Francorchamps 1993 (would disrupt historic feeling) Spielberg 1974 (would disrupt historic feeling) Spielberg 1977 (would disrupt historic feeling) Taruma (no suitable straight)
Great roundup, also agree that the classic tracks would feel weird. Cool to see you making tiers of how F1 suitable non F1 tracks are. Man, there are so many tracks on the B/C and D tier that I would love to drive Formula Ultimate on when theres also a DRS tactic into play like in real life.
Which tracks would that be? So, are there any tracks in D tier you think should be in C, and the other way around? I'm a bit unsure with Campo Grande. The reason it's in D despite being quite a neat track is that I don't think DRS is possible on the back straight (because of the following corner you'll probably enter at full throttle), so there's only the start finish straight, which might be too short for F1 to overtake on. Another insecurity is Velopark, because that could provide decent racing (the finishing section is a little awkward though), but it's far shorter than any F1 track is allowed to be.
