After the last update, I lost all speech. It even causes loss of center channel for Crew Chief, so I have no speech from it either. This seems to indicate it is not just speech, but the entire center channel has been disabled. See below. Have tried 3 different audio systems: No speech from any of them. They all work perfectly with every other game I have: System A is a Realtek 5.1 attached to a 5.1 speaker system configured as a 5.1 surround system. System B is audio via HDMI to speakers on the monitor. System C is a sound bar with 2.0 audio only attached to the Realtek outputs, but configured as 2.0 (stereo). Have done the following steps: 1. Changed to 2 different 2.0 speaker systems. Still no speech at all, either from the game itself or Crew Chief. 2. Removed Center Channel speaker from 5.1 via Windows. Still no Speech from either the game of Crew Chief (in game). 3. Crew Chief works fine in every other racing game (AC, AMS, rF2, etc). Center channel working fine in all these games. 4. Disabled Crew Chief, still no speech. 5. Confirmed "Pit Crew" in Audio section is turned up to 100. 6. When starting Crew Chief (prior to launching AMS2), it confirms it is working by saying "Radio Check". In game, Crew Chief is completely silent. Crew Chief works perfectly in all other games. 7. Confirmed "Headphone mix" is off 8. Race Engineer and Spotter: Tried setting to Always (and Authentic) - no change. Audio section in-game, it shows "Realtek Speakers" selected, which is correct. But even when selecting one of the 2.0 audio systems, there is still no speech (or presumably anything else associated with Center channel audio). It's as if the entire center channel has been removed from the mix, at the source, even for non-surround systems. The information simply is not there, otherwise it would get assigned to the L/R speakers in the 2.0 speaker system (and be audible, which it is not). Normally, I would say that speech is simply somehow disabled, but that would not affect Crew Chief, which inserts itself directly into the center channel. Even when using a 2.0 (stereo) audio system, Crew Chief is silent, and the game itself has no speech from the pit crew. Anything and everything going to the Center channel seems to be disabled, at the source. Crew Chief/speech/center channel audio works perfectly in AMS, AC, rF2, PC2. Only AMS2 is missing speech/center channel audio.
Solved: I didn't have the Shared Memory enabled under External Apps. Enabled that, set the protocol to Project Cars 2, and now Crew Chief is working. I guess AMS2 doesn't have speech yet. For some reason, I thought it did at some point?
Thank You, I just bought this sim and found out how much I relied on the spotter. Very much appreciate your thread.
