Have you guys noticed that most threads here start like this: "hey guys got the game X ago and i am loving it but..."
There's always a but. Nothing is perfect. Even the girl I dated yesterday, but I like her so much! Similar with AMS 2. It has some quirks, but it's an amazing sim.
And what's the problem? I'm loving it but... there are several things to be fixed... but I can live with it or use other cars, tracks,....
id imagine if u tell ur gf/wife that you love her but.. once is fine. but at some point its questionable if u really love her if ur just complaining and i am sure she wont appriciate that too
We love people not only because of their qualities but also for their faults. I think the same can be applied to videogames.
Let's put that to the test. AMS2 was released a year too early. The DLC is very expensive and incomplete. The multiplayer is buggy. The audio is buggy. Default setups are inconsistent. Car classes are rarely complete. FFB is a lottery. The UI is inconsistent and sometimes unresponsive. There is no documentation. Have at it.
People see the potential and want the sim to do well. If people didn't care, they wouldn't post: they'd just move on to another sim.
Alternatively: AMS2 was released just in time to keep the studio afloat (although could have been called "early access" until at least v1.2) The DLC is cheaper than iRacing for example and tracks come with more variants than any other sim. Multiplayer allows anyone to run a lobby of 20+ cars and cars don't get launched into the stratosphere after simple contacts. The audio is better than PC2 and doesn't offend your ears with excessive reverb like ACC. Default setups allow the player to experience the excitement of finding setup improvements. AMS2 doesn't waste your time with grid-fillers like GT3 cars that wouldn't be remotely competitive and no one would pick anyway. The FFB is a lottery and we're all millionaires! The UI is not as bad as rFactor 2 or even Content Mangler. The documentation is not outdated or incorrect.
but u wouldnt complain about those faults if u accept them. i think its overall just a defensive position from the poster. very similiar to the typical "i am no racedriver but car xyz feels bad", watch any yt video where the creator is complaining (except for steel) and they usually start off with this sentence xD
That's why I love AMS2 It's a never ending story and every month there are some new surprises, but.....
I don't think there is anything soo far away from the truth with these comments. That doesn't mean we're not enjoying it. AMS2 is my most played and enjoyed sim at the moment and I have pretty much all the titles, but the truth is there are still a lot of improvements needed, so let's not get over defensive. Some people do unnecessarily add negativity to this sim and I think that does influence certain kinds of people, that's the way it goes these days with social media. Also, AMS2 carries the stigma from PCars2 and will take a while to wear off as long as it keeps on improving.... This will be a defining year for AMS2, if Reiza can fine-tune this title am sure there will be fewer "buts"......
At least AMS2 community admits that there is a "but"... because there are other more acclaimed sims over there (will not name, but you all know the names) that had more "buts" than carnival in Brazil... just saying
