Hello, long term AMS2 fan but mostly lurked around the forums without ever writing much. I recently got my hands on an Active Pedal and it is really fun. AMS2 provides really good FFB on the pedal when the ABS is providing inputs, by pushing back my foot and making me immediately realize to let go a little. Simply amazing! However, as the manifacturer of such pedal openly stated (MOZA, hoping you don't mind mentioning them): most simulators, with few exceptions, do not provide any readable FFB signal for when the wheels are locking when you're driving without ABS. Which pushes you once again to only rely on sound clues ingame (which I've been doing all this time like everyone else) to figure out when that happens. In AMS2, this is particularly punishing as the "flat patching" on tyres, for how I find really amusing how well developers nailed it, absolutely shreds the wheel dragging on the asphalt even for a third of a second. Obviously this can mostly be assumed to be a "Problem In Chair, Not In Car". I've never been the best driver! However, given how common FFB pedals are becoming, especially relatively cheap haptic motors strapped to them, I wanted to ask: Do you plan to update the FFB to support "Wheel lock" signals for FFB haptic devices to read, in the future? I attempted to check about this topic in the forum but it did not pop in the search function, so I decided to make a dedicated thread. Thank you for your time.
Why don't you go for simhub to set it up? I have my bass shakers set up to deliver feedback for wheel lock (among tons of other things) and it works flawlessly.
Hello, thank you for the reply. ^^ I don't know if that's possible in my case. As I mentioned, I'm not using bass shakers, but an active pedal, a MOZA mBooster, which interfaces through the steering wheel's FFB driver instead of Simhub. All effects currently work, except for the Wheel lock. It's not really a bug, but a limitation that varies game-by-game. Hence why I was wondering if devs of AMS2 have the intentions to eventually make it work here as well. I incorrectly assumed this was probably the case for bass shakers in simhub as well, since I suppose most of the telemetry is running also for the FFB to function.
There are also steering FFB and motion cues for ABS effects for other hardware, so they either rely on telemetry, audio cues or possibly brake-pressure data to trigger the effects. Both D-box and SimuCube have ABS FX for their active pedals. Qubic motion systems supports both longitudinal wheel lock and ABS effects.
