Saving game progress between sessions?

I know there are issues with livetrack that make it tricky to save progress during the race, but why isn't there an option to save race weekend progress between sessions, and will this be addressed?

 

AMS2 saves between sessions when you create a custom championship. If you just want to simulate a race weekend, create a championship with just one track.
