Hi, I am curious: why not every entry in the timetrial leaderboard have the setup shared? Even if the car is the same as mine? Would that be because something has been changed in car in some previous release or is there another reason? Thanks in advance
Well, it's a bit more complicated. Some time trials won't let you grab a setup, because the ghost wasn't recorded. I'm not sure if this is an issue with the game locally storing the ghost, or if it's a server/internet connection issue. There needs to be a way to download the setup without it. On another note: the ability to share setups would be really nice for multiplayer. Pcars2 used to allow this and over at GoFastClub's Pc2 Oval nights, we wouldn't be able to make that work without that feature. It's annoying to have to go through and list every detail of the car setup in voice chat, when the engine has the ability to easily share setups in the lobby.
I'm having this issue as well. I select ghosts that are displayed as having an available setup and load into track, however once in the session start screen I cannot access the setup
This "no setup/no ghost" laps seems to be times recorded with older AMS2 version that made the setups incompatible. Personally, I really want an option to not share my setups because I'm not a very good driver, but have an above average ability to set my cars (yes... I have some WRs on AMS2 leaderboards... believe that I'm still the faster factory set Opala Driver around and maybe I still have the highest speed ever reached on AMS2 (at least recorded on LB replay... never saw on video), that is 421Km/h if I my memory don't fails me). Today I don't even waste my time to setup my car, just try to go default and beat the other drivers with factory setup because on some occasions I made the WR and more skilled drivers beaten my time with my own setup. Fells not fair. If they don't add this option, at least separate the times between factory and custom setups. Abração!
"If they don't add this option, at least separate the times between factory and custom setups." That would not really solve your problem would it? I think sharing setups is a good way to help the players overall, which end up improving the game a whole. There should be another way to award who created the setup without preventing the sharing. maybe to record/publish how many times a given setup have been downloaded. But AMS2 have way too many things to be polished before getting to something like this....
I don't want to help players... that is exactly my point to not share my setup. But if you are concerned about the evolution of AMS2 players as a community, them teach them to set their own cars. I learned it spending my own time over it... other people can do the same. There is a Setup Market App to Assetto Corsa... maybe Reiza can do the same to AMS2 and those who WANT TO SHARE can do it. I shared some setups on this app... I can do it with all my good heart WHEN I WANT, NOT AWAYS... sacou?
I respect your opinion but I keep mine. I think AMS2 is going yet thought a lot of physics changes, so such a competitive approach seems out of place. Helping others seems more of a priority at this point, so I think the setup sharing seems a logical option for Reiza now.
I can understand not wanting to share setups if you're competing for a big money prize in an esports event, but complaining about not wanting to share setups in a TT leaderboard that doesn't have any sort of reward is just silly imo. Leaderboards just got cleared btw.
Yet, if I put my time on something, it has to be my decision to share or not. What is wrong with you people that have this fkng fetiche about how other people have to deal with their own stuff?
Sounds like you have got pretty tired of this rather gamish thing where people either without a clue of creating a setup or with the I-want-your-work-for-free-dammit is able to steal your setups. My own solution is to use Racerooms TT LBs instead where this amateurish/gamish thing is not possible. Eventhough I still consider AMS2´s physics & TM better. ByTheWay: At the moment 2 people on the Daytona Speedway LBs have created a miracle setup for the VW-ID-R. The rest of us on the LB are pulling our hair out because we cannot figure out the settings of this miracle setup. Instead of moaning gimme gimme your setup I consider it pretty challenging. And more like RL racing
I don't like sharing setups. In iRacing you can subscribe, with money, to 'workshops', so you've always the best setups for said car & track. It's bonkers. And distortion of competition. And in some way also Pay to Win.
Dividing the player base of a game that already is not that popular is a horrible idea and Reiza must decide if will beat on casualty or on the players that really put their time on this mode. Anyone can find my times all over the LB and see that I'm not a slow driver... where are the times of folks giving dislikes to my posts and/or asking for this freeload to keep on? There is an old proverb that says: "if you want to play a game, first learn the fkng game"... and setup is part of this game of time trial.
Obviously a controversial topic. The better players can spend a lot of time fine tuning their setup. I can understand why they do not want to share it. It is a nice thought re sharing setups but the authors of these should be given the opportunity to share or not. I think the current situation is a turn off for many players. Surely an easy fix Reiza?
PCARS 2 had a setup share function for every kind of Multiplayer scenario. You could easily choose with whom to share or not. The functionality is already in the engine. It's just one of a handfull of removed features.
