I made a test video with additional sounds. it's not perfect, but it gives an insight into what's still possible in terms of sound added sounds: - extra curbs - brake squeak - vehicle movements - Gravel spill all sounds are already included in AMS2
Sounds nice! But if these are already included in AMS2, how to activate them? What did you do in order to make the game sound like this? All the best, Herakles
I extracted the .bank files that are already in the game and used the .WAV files to create the video.
Sounds amazing. Is it possible to make some kind of sound mod where these sound cues is exaggered so they sound like this? Great work man
There is an option to edit the .bank files and replace the original file, but this can lead to unpredictable errors. Unfortunately, there is currently no way to add sounds afaik. However, since the sound files are already present in the folder structure, it is possible that reiza will activate them in future updates.
Anyway it still sounds impressing. After hearing the distinct directional cues in your video I wonder why Reiza havent allready composed some "real" and convincing(!) surround sounds for the different cars. Because personally I think most cars in AMS2 sounds more or less meh meh. No convincing surround sound with convincing directional cues (IMO).
I have obvserved some stuttering sounds ever since the last update while braking hard - at least sometimes. So far, I could not determine, what exactly triggers this sound, but it defintely is there. It almost sounds like backfire / misfiring, but I'm quite sure it isn't. Anyway, my idea is, that this could be proof of sound being available and introduced in prospective updates.
Sounds great, there was a beta update recently that had the dirt pick up sounds added but it was gone the next update, although i think its still there on one of the road cars. Personally id just love the static pops (like loop clicks) to be gone. Still, we are in a constant update faze, so maybe one day.
Interesting blend. Would be nice to hear a little less tire scrub and a little more tire skid. Maybe the low end of the scrub is covering up the skid sound. But I'm not sure if you actually skid in the video.
I suspect tire sounds have yet to be fully fleshed out and refined per car. There may be much deeper audio-related work (perhaps tied to physics or code work) happening behind the curtain that would render such progress on audio useless at this point. Fine-tuning of audio tends to happen once game development reaches a certain level of maturity.
