Just purchased and installed AMS2. I launch it from Steam library with right click VR option to play it with my Steam Valve Index. It plays well. But when I close AMS2 or go to the desktop, I see that Oculus software has launched as well (and when I cancel it, it closes AMS2)! I previously used my Oculus Rift before I had the Index, so Oculus software is still installed. Other titles, like Assetto Corsa or ACC all start well with Steam VR (without any Oculus software starting up) but with AMS2 I have not found a solution to avoid having Oculus starting up - for no reason, I believe. I don‘t think it makes sense for a Steam VR hardware like the Index? I first launched AMS2 for the very first time from Steam library via right click and selected VR Steam option (however called exactely), and not Oculs VR option, which was there as well as the non VR option. Now I only find an VR option (or non VR), no more both VRs (Steam or Ocolus). When I select it it starts Steam VR, which is required, but also Oculus. Thanks for any advice to get rid of Oculus software starting up, thanks!
I've found this with a few titles such as DCS World, the Oculus software just starts on its own, you can alt tab and kill it or start AMS2 windowed and kill it there. It's annoying but I haven't found it to be game breaking.
