I sometimes hear beeps during shifting in M8 GTE. Anyone knows what that means? Edit: Found a video and I heard that sound again at around 2.52. Edit 2: It’s more like a buzzer than a beep. Sorry for my poor English.
Are you referring specifically to downshifts? I hear this sometimes in various cars. I usually hear it if I've downshifted a little early as I'm slowing down. I've always interpreted it as a warning of sorts that I've downshifted a bit early resulting in higher revs than is necessary or wanted.
Sometimes I hear a strange 'ehhhhh' sound, like an error sound of an old PC. This is with GT3 and GT4 cars, especially with BMW
I did think of this because I’ve heard this kind of beep warning in Assetto Corsa. But when I tried downshifting from 5th to 4th gear at low rev, I could still hear the beep.
It's not a gear shift warning as you might hear in RaceRoom. It's a reproduction of a mechanical sound: the pneumatic pump for the gear shift. IMHO.
It's the compressor for the paddle gear shift. It needs to fill from time to time. The more you shift, the more it is needed. I'd be grateful if someone with actual racing knowledge could explain it in more detail than my vague assurances. Don't want to tag Domago Lovric - the poor man needs his rest.
